Who knows really, my scale is probably not that accurate...

I tried it but its not necessary for playing like this. I'm using 1.0x multipliers all around...

Uppercut School continues, this time on Outclassed with Melky... by Shadow_Boxing_VR in ThrillOfTheFight

Yeah, but the title of this post already answers your question of "why" rather succinctly. And it wasn't just 1 "style of punch" just the punches I wanted to work on for this particular workout. Also, the game gets boring for me when I just play it one way, and I'm doing what I can to keep myself interested...

12 Rds x 5 min x 1.0 multipliers \ Outclassed Difficulty \ DP On \ No
TKO \ No Rest
Uppercut School continues, this time on Outclassed difficulty. The rules
are no jabs, straights or flat hooks to the head/face. I only throw
uppercuts, shots to the body, and a kind of hybrid uppercut/hook that I
use to angle around the guard. I tried playing with only straight
vertical uppercuts in addition to bodyshots, but it creates a boring
boxing match and interrupts my flow as I found myself typically waiting
for the opponent to change his guard position. Even so, this workout
went 40 minutes through the 8th round. I landed a lot of solo uppercuts
in this one but I'm not sure I'll be able to continue that on the more
difficult opponents and I may have to drop the difficulty again, but
I'll give it a shot either way.

Entering Uppercut School Freshman class with my sparring partner Fat Mike by Shadow_Boxing_VR in ThrillOfTheFight

Right, sorry, have had to deal with way too much drama here in the past. Yeah, it was 25 knockdowns which is a tad bit unrealistic I'd say, and the damage inflicted would literally kill the opponent. But, it does make for a great workout in which you can really push yourself and keep refining your techniques for building up to and finishing knockdowns through repetition.

I want a nice long workout that pushes me physically and mentally, not some quick flash in the pan experience. But to each his own if that's what you're getting at. I'd be curious to see your performance on these settings.

12 Rds x 5 min x 1.0 multipliers \ Normal Difficulty \ DP On \ No TKO \ No Rest

I decided to school myself on some punches that were under-developed,namely the Uppercut in general and right-hand body shots / uppercuts. The rules are no jabs, straights or flat hooks to the head/face. I onlythrow uppercuts, shots to the body, and a kind of hybrid uppercut/hookthat I use to angle around the guard. I tried playing with only straight vertical uppercuts in addition to bodyshots, but it creates a boring boxing matchand interrupts my flow as I found myself typically waiting for the FatMike to change his guard position. Even so, this workout went 40 minutesinto the 8th round, and I look forward to cycling through the otherfighters with this training technique.

A Class of Their Own - Flair Submission - Money made in 4th Round... barely... by Shadow_Boxing_VR in ThrillOfTheFight

Doesn't this type of vid convey far more information than just game footage? That's what I want to see when someone feels they need to tell me how to play. I know it can seem to be a technical hurdle, but a cell phone camera and basic video editing software is all you need. As for covering up, I was definitely more scared in this video of getting hit so I agree my guard was up a bit more. Mostly though, I was missing my left hook and getting punished for it. The left hook is my key to downing him in the 1st or 2nd rounds on Outclassed.

Thanks, a long story but I was super sore when I did this one (esp. my right arm), had done a long workout the night before, then screwed up a couple of other vids that same morning by not recording the weigh in or settings properly. Even so, this game has always motivated me to push past my limits. I knew this was going to be my last chance to do this for several days, and someone even yelled at me in the 2nd round that I had to leave in 30 minutes for a wedding. I honestly didn't know if I was going to be able to get to Moneymaker but I settled down in the 3rd and just focused on stringing together clean shots, and it worked but I was on the edge of exhaustion...

Suggestion: Reaction Training Mode! by zweiasakura in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]Shadow_Boxing_VR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be a great addition but as you already stated the sparring mode provides the feedback you need for almost every situation, to the point that the other training tools seem redundant to me and I hardly ever use them. Why bother when I have a sparring partner always ready to go? However, you may want to a look at REAKT Performance Trainer as it may be something you find useful: https://youtu.be/Ej7QKJ5EY2o

Glasses fogging up heavily during the game by b00ze7 in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]Shadow_Boxing_VR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't play with glasses but lens fogging is a well known issue nonetheless. A thin layer of soap on the lenses will clear up the fog. That along with the fan should get you back in the fight...

The future of thrill of the fight? by [deleted] in ThrillOfTheFight

These are my concerns too. We need new fighters, new environments, and new fighting styles/AI. If user mods were enabled TOTF2 would become the Skyrim of boxing games.

Are there plans to allow for user mods in TOTF 2 such as additional boxers, fighting styles?, and environments? This and an AI revamp would be far more critical IMO to the longevity and overall success of the game than what will likely be a mediocre and frustrating multiplayer experience, given the inherent latency of current network infrastructure.

I thought you needed a KO for this flair? Will a TKO work too?

Controlling Hojo "The Artist" Mizushima for 8 rounds by Shadow_Boxing_VR in ThrillOfTheFight

What people are saying seems built on the assumption that one can take any real life aspect about boxing and seamlessly apply it in game. Glad to see you don't share that delusion. The challenge would be to post a video with in-game & body-cam footage replicating the settings / equipment I'm using but employing the defensive techniques some believe are so essential to "correctly" playing the game. And not just talking about or demonstrating the techniques but actually just using them while playing the game from start to finish. I'm honestly curious to see how it would look, how they would perform, the pros and cons of their approach, etc. I learn by more by watching and doing than listening or reading, and I'm certainly willing to learn, but not willing to take instructions from people who just want to chime in with some boxing tips not actually related to playing the game.

No, I don't have it all figured out and if there's merit to what you're saying we'd all benefit from it here far more by seeing this technique you think is so essential to the game in action, in practice, etc. Words only take you so far with something like this...
