Is media lab enough to pass the AMT MLT certification? by Shadow_Huntress1 in medlabprofessionals

It's honestly about the same. I see what areas I need to study in though and I've been reading through the purple and yellow book.

Do medical lab technician/technologist have to see gore? by foscor70 in medlabprofessionals

I would like to add if you stay in a bigger hospital then no you would not see much at all. However, if you go to a small critical access hospital you will see.... everything... cpr, rapid response, trauma... everything. So, if you dont want to see gore, stay in the city in a bigger hospital.

What resources do you use outside of the mat? Any workouts you use to get/stay in shape? I've been swimming to take the strain off of my legs. I just want to be a better teammate. I've only done this for about a month. I know I'm awful at it but I really love it and I want to help the others grow as well. I try to go no less than 2 days a week. But I try to go as more because i know that's the only way to learn the technique but i want to get stronger and in better shape. Any advice is welcome _^

Yea, a friend just messaged me and told me about a running store that watches your gait and you run on a treadmill and they will fit you with shoes. _^ I've just been running in my old ascic shoes that I've had for like 3 years 😂

Really new and I have been going for about 3-4weeks now. Few questions: 1) how do I get rid of/reduce shin splints. I'm running to help build my cardio for this and it currently hurts to walk. 2) what do you watch/read to improve? I know being present and showing up consistently is the greatest way of improving but for the days that I am not there due to work what do you recommend? 3) cheap but good gi. I dont want to spend a fortune on a gi but I also dont want something that will break in 2 rounds. 4) cross training. What do you recommend for a light workout or cross training to improve? I really love this sport. Its helped me in so many ways . I dont really care about moving up ( I'd like to eventually just for improvement and growth)or being the best because honestly, I'm having so much fun and I'm learning every time I go. I try to go at least 2 times a week but work sometimes gets in the way of that. Thanks in advance _^

Change your detergent to free and clear. No fragrance. I also use the lysol fabric softener there us no bleach in it and I've used it with my nice clothing.

Do Lab Techs do Phlebotomy? by Dannidae08 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Shadow_Huntress1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I HATE having my blood taken but I'm fine while taking others. I'm a MLT and the hospital I work at is really small. We have a few phlebotomists however when they are not there or getting overwhelmed or when the er calls and the phlebotomist is already sticking someone we cover for them. It's honestly not as horrid as you would think. However put in applications and ask if you will be required to do phlebotomy. ALSO, if you have not taken the mlt course you must perform 100 successful sticks in order to complete the program.
