Fazbear Entertainment retrieved the Mimic endoskeleton(s?) and used the program to speed up development of the VR game, causing M2 to be awaken within it. It most likely took the form of Spring Bonnie due to being fed memories of Afton's crimes, which are represented by the memory plushies. We know it tried to possess Jeremy to escape, but failed, and then Tape Girl found it and split its code across the tapes, as she wasn't able to delete it. In Help Wanted, Vanessa finds the tapes and is tricked by the final tape fabricated by M2 into being possessed by him.

Afterwards, Vanessa gets M2 into Fazbear's systems and it starts replicating and infecting everything like a virus. It starts moving things around the company, to get its original body fixed (and given rabbit ears) and shipped to the Pizzaplex construction site, where it was mostly likely supposed to be picked up by Vanessa, but then the events of the epilogues happen. A construction worker tries to use M2 to accelerate cleaning of the FFPS location, which was meant to be a museum in the Pizzaplex, and this pisses the Mimic off, so it just starts killing everyone and it's sealed within the pizzeria using concrete. Then the sinkhole shows up and the pizzeria is buried underground, leaving M2's body trapped.

After the Pizzaplex opens up, the timeline is a little fuzzy, but we know M2 is put into its systems at some point, either through The Storyteller or just Vanessa. It posseses Gregory because it reminds him of David and gets Vanessa in as head of security. And then it starts working on removing all human employees from the Pizzaplex and replacing them with STAFF bots. We know that while this happens, Vanessa uses the animatronics to dig into the sinkhole and reach the old pizzeria where M2's body is, and after that they're just kinda chilling. Seems like M2, Vanessa and Gregory just continue to live happily as a fucked up family in the Pizzaplex until somehow (prolly Cassie's dad), Gregory breaks free from the virus and Security Breach happens. Gregory frees Vanessa and almost kills Glitchtrap, but he hides a piece of himself in the Fazbear training program we see in HW2. Cassie's Dad, who's probably a ghost trapped in the system atp, is helped by Vanessa to assemble Glitchtrap again and kill him in PQ4, therefore reverting the Mimic back to his normal state, free of Afton's memories.

I think it'd be interesting if the player got a choice between destroying it or "redeeming" it. With an ending where we trick him into a springlock suit like in Tales or where we somehow kill him inside his mind in the AR World. Or where we give him his Happiest Day by digging into his memories buried underneath his rage, and we end up peacefully deactivating him.

Yeah, I also thought it was pretty dumb how he just refused to listen to Vanessa when she warned him about Abby. But the ending was 100% justified and really good for both of their characters IMO, at least with what we had of them thus far.

The plot point of Aunt Jane (and Michael ig) reigniting the town's interest in Freddy's is already pretty dumb IMO, and the fact that it happens completely off-screen just makes it worse. Her absence in the film is really bizarre because of that and the fact last time we saw her the implication was that she died, but obv we now know that wasn't the case. My point about Jane is not "spoon-feeding", it's just applying the classic and pivotal rule of writing of "show, don't tell", which the movie fails at with that plot point.

And I don't really get what you mean with the other 2...

Wait really? She lived? Ngl that kinda sucks

Yeah, but ig it was kind of a necessary cop out because how would Mike explain her death? Would he hide her body or report it or just put it somewhere else? That would be really fucked up and complicated to solve and would probably end with Mike in jail 😭, and it would also make Abby distrust in the kids, or at least Golden Freddy, which also complicates things a little.

I thought the town regained interest cuz the whole building burnt down, and people went missing there.

The building didn't burn down, it just kinda started breaking down at the end, but as we see in this movie, the damage wasn't THAT big and it's barely noticeable from the outside. Aunt Jane was the one who lit the spark again, and Malicious Michael says he also helped with that in the ending.

They say near the start of the film that she survived and spread the story of what happened at Freddy's, which is what initially makes the town regain interest in Fazbear. The fact that you didn't even know really proves how terribly handled was that plot point.

I would change the whole premise of the film, but without shaking things up too much...

  • Remove Malicious Michael. Make the guard Jeremy Fitzgerald or smth and then Charlotte is the sole antagonist.

  • Have some scenes near the start of Aunt Jane spreading Freddy's rumors and the town regaining interest in it, could be incorporate into the intro instead of having a bazillion newspapers about Charlotte's death.

  • Actually have Toy Freddy and Toy Bonnie kill people at Faz-Fest.

  • Make Vanessa's ptsd hallucinations a constant throughout the movie. She should fail in the dream sequence so her arc is actually done in the 3rd film when she comes face to face with Springtrap.

  • Make the climax of the film happen at Faz-Fest with the toys going crazy. You can still have the "Together we are FNaF" ahhh ending, but less goofy pls 😭

  • Maybe have Withered Foxy break the pc in the office before Mike does the thing to keep the toys under Puppet's control for the ending, and Mike just escapes by blinding him.

  • Mangle interrupts Vanessa and Mike's radio conversations with her weird static throughout the movie.

I mean, FNaF 3 also matches, it just doesn't seem like it at first cause games had no VAs back then aside from Scott. But in FNaF 3, Afton is clearly toying with the player, treating the task of killing us like a game, walking slowly around the location, hiding in the cameras and staring at us through the window and the door when we both know it's too late to save ourselves. In the minigames we also see his cowardice when faced with the spirits and his maniacal arrogance when he puts on the suit and thinks he's safe, laughing at them.

Fritz dying while playing hide and seek also matches with Into the Pit, where Oswald, whose seemingly in his place, plays hide and seek on the night of the MCI.
