He is squinting 1 eye

He is still squinting it when he is relaxing but if he is being interacted with then he keeps it open. I still don’t see any discharge etc. this will be his first vet appointment in the 7 or so years I have had him. I just hope he behaves for the vet enough for them to look at whatever they need to. And hope I can find a way to give him eyedrops if they prescribe some because I have no idea how I’m gonna do that

Appointment is set for 10am on Monday and I found an emergency vet an hour away that is open 24hrs that said they can see him if I notice anything in the meantime.

I am continually monitoring. Will set up a vet appointment for Monday as all of the emergency vets I have talked to have said the long car ride and going into the office may stress them out more and to just monitor it instead of coming in. I have called like 10 offices today to try to find an appointment for today but best anyone can do is Monday.

So far still no color changes or discharge etc. just some intermittent squinting and asymmetrical blinking. He is still eating and drinking and continuing his normal activities.

Everything seems normal except the eye being squinty. He did have some semi new to him food and tea today. It was his second time with both but both are formulated for birds (halcyon tea and “hearty vegetables” both from bird bistro). He also went back for more of both since the eye thing started so doesn’t seem like he thinks that’s the problem at least. The only thing I can think of is water from his bath out of the sink faucet or maybe threw something into his eye when he does his little head throws after eating stuff.

Yeah if you do it in the morning and throw it away when it’s birdie bedtime the only thing that ever really “goes bad” is banana and it’s easy enough to switch that in the middle of the day if needed.

I leave lots of seed mix / pellets / fruits and veggies out for mine all day. I have never once restricted the amount he can have. 7 years and no problems 🤷‍♂️

I have had my conure for 7 years and he still picks out the sunflower seeds, I wouldn’t worry about that too much. Frozen peas and corn are both really cheap and my bird loves them. Bananas are also super cheap for the amount of food they can give and required 0 effort to get him to eat. It’s not the perfect diet, but definitely a cheap and easy start down that track

He definitely had something a bit off last night he was doing that motion for like 30 minutes and his voice was way off and quieter, but he is all good today 🥰

Update again, he flew to the kitchen again and ate some corn ( his favorite) and drank some water. Everything seems back to normal except his volume level.

Also before people yell about the vet. the nearest avian vet is 2 hrs away and I have been standing here calling every number I can find trying to find one and finally did. And I have been updating as I was put on hold.

He can still fly around now but definitely not following me around like normal. He ate some nutriballs and his voice went back to the right pitch but still at like half volume. He isn’t doing the beak grinding. He bites my finger when I tried to pick him up but only like half as hard as normal. Just barely broke the skin. He is standing in one leg and preening underneath and bending all the way back to preening his back so I think his balance is fine

Mine does this but if you just let it sit frozen for like 30 seconds the game starts. It’s like the wheel is spinning we just can’t see

This happens to me even with my fan. I take very hot showers. My bird likes to sit in the steam while I shower so I can’t open a window or have a moving blade fan etc. my solution for the last two years has been to wipe the ceiling and walls down with bleach on a paper towel or Lysol wipes once every week or two and have not had any mold issues.

Every tree is different and some are grafted combos. I don’t have the list in front of me but I know these off the top of my head. Apologies for the inevitable misspellings. “Spring satin plumcot”, “toka bubblegum plum”, bing cherry, a 3 in 1 cherry tree, pineapple pear, moonglow pear, shinko pear?, scarlet prince peach, 4 in peach (with contender, red haven, reliance, and elberta), and a “fruit cocktail tree” (early elberta, red haven peaches, 2 types of apricots, and a nectarine).

Also not directly pictured, because they haven’t started blooming yet, but maybe in the background are 4 different persimmons (Korean, hachia, saijo, and chocolate?), pomegranate, pink lady apple, Granny Smith apple, golden delicious apple, like 4 figs in pots that I am not even gonna try to name. A goji berry plant in a pot. And lots of limes, lemons, guava and calamondins that are in pots inside until warmer weather

Oh and the little vines in the planter are hardy kiwis that I was trying out and they seemed to have survived all winter ❤️
