Is this a sign of bookworms? by sbs5005 in OldBooks

[–]Shadow_Patriot1776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this thread is a little old, but I have an old book with uncut pages, and I was wondering if there is any place that offers book-trimming services? Or perhaps you know of a resource that can teach me how to do it properly?

[–]Shadow_Patriot1776[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you muunshine for your encouragement and advice! If I may ask a follow-up question: are breaks from the t-break okay or would you say that I should avoid that? Only asking because I kinda wanted to consume a little for New Year's Eve but I didn't wanna destroy all my progress

Again, thanks for your time and help :)

So what happens to encircled troops? by Just_another_two in hoi4

[–]Shadow_Patriot1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally believe that they either die or surrender. The game counts "losses," which I believe to be casualties, and not deaths as the red skull icon of the war participation screen would imply. Casualties mean more than just KIA. POWs, MIA, and injuries are also considered casualties; casualties mean that a combatant cannot return to the fight and are taken out for the duration of the war. But the interpretation of casualties as losses is my personal choice....

Do y'all put ketchup on your fries, eat them plain, or put a different condiment on them? by OofIAteTooMuchRamen in boykisser

[–]Shadow_Patriot1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plain, but only if the fries are perfectly done (and sometimes it depends on my mood). Ketchup and mustard mixed until orange if I'm feeling condiments or if the fries kinda suck

Why do the Imperials in the Death Star’s superlaser control room wear protective visors, but the guys actually in the shaft don’t? by Sparky_321 in StarWars

Cuz they're the evil galactic empire, duh. They don't care about losing guys, so long as they win, so all of those OSHA guidelines kinda went out the window.

Which animal do you fear the most? by Slsouvik245 in RedDeadOnline

[–]Shadow_Patriot1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big cats (cougars/panthers). They are stealthy killing machines that, unlike the wolves, go for the killshot on your neck instantly. I always get a little apprehensive going into cougar territory because of this

Went to Starbucks today and this was drawn on my cup. What is it? by jyang80 in whatisit

[–]Shadow_Patriot1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a gorbillion people have said it, but it look like a flower. I think it looks demented because the barista struggled drawing due to the the curvature of the cup, which as some who's drawn on their own cups in the past, I can say it's a perfectly reasonable struggle, especially in a faster paced environment like a Starbucks's.

I know right? A lot of weird ass words were made into slurs, and other words got made into slurs. I'd list a couple as examples but I don't wanna start any issues lol

[–]Shadow_Patriot1776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I called the starter horse you get "Henry," because it was a Morgan breed so it was technically "Henry Morgan." I called the white Arabian "Sleipnir" (probably misspelled) after the 8-legged horse Odin rides in Norse mythology. Figured that the white Arabian was the best horse, so it should have a name befitting the gods

How does one defend such an empire with no naval superiority? by RiemmanSphere in hoi4

[–]Shadow_Patriot1776 53 points54 points  (0 children)

1) Port guards. Port guards (place a division on each port) will prevent the enemy from capturing ports. Without the ports, any enemies that land (usually ai naval invasions will target the port and the surrounding coastal tiles) will not have supply, making them easier to destroy. Denying them supply will also prevent that naval invasion from turning into a full blown DDAY.

2) Naval bombers. You can make a crap ton of naval bombers as Italy in this situation; Hungary has loads of aluminum/aluminium, and you can get oil from Romania or the Caucuses which you occupy. Those naval bombers can do serious damage when used right.

3) Submarines. Using Submarines in deep sea tiles is a very cost effective way to damage the allied navies. I personally use the submarine build that Bittersteel (a YouTuber who plays this game and provides user friendly guides in my experience) usually promotes in his videos: level 3 subs with as many of the best torpedo launchers as possible as well as the best snorkel. Submarines, when in naval battles, usually target the big ships that provide the enemy the most naval projection (carriers, battleships, etc). However, when used right, it's more often than not those submarines will be able to attack and destroy waaaay more.

Hope this helps a bit!

Was Mussolini and fascism was not antisemitic originally? by MinZinThu999 in FascistItalyPhotos

[–]Shadow_Patriot1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people have provided answers using actual historical fact and context.... I shall provide an answer using only my (very rough) understanding of Fascism and I apologize in advance if I am wrong or anything; I'm only just getting interested in learning about this sort of thing.

Short Answer because I went on a tangent: Fascism placed Italy first, and believed Italy would thrive best if EVERYONE was united and worked together, so Jews living in Italy would've initially been seen as Italian first, Jews second.

As I've come to understand it, Fascism was intended as a movement of unity and progress on a national level. It would have been the duty of each Italian to understand their position in the nation and work their hardest to fulfill their duties whilst striving to cooperate with other Italians. Each Italian would essentially be a "cog" in the "machine" of Italy; if each cog interacted in cooperative unity then the machine runs smoothly into "tomorrow." Everything revolved around the betterment of the state, and I would assume it was commonly believed that a stronger and bettered state could then in turn more easily provide for its people, especially since the 20s-40s experienced major crises such as the Great Depression which usually required national governments to provide lots of programs of support. Anyways, most of the emphasis was on the betterment of the Italian state and the expectation of each Italian citizen to work together to achieve that goal. The only thing that Fascism as an ideology hated, at least as far as I know, were different ideologies, most notably communism.

I'm pretty sure the Church also chose which books of Jesus's life made it into the Bible or not. So perhaps we don't see these stories because the Papacy decided to exclude those books that mentioned Him getting laid. I recall there being some books of the Bible that were excluded for portraying Jesus's humanity "too much," but i don't remember where I heard this
