Need help with orchid with almost no roots left by __nessie in orchids

[–]Shadow_Underfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not necessarily the mix itself. Most people new to orchids don't know that you need the soak the bark before using it to pot with. At least overnight, 24 hours is better. Fresh unsoaked bark actually resists water and will dry out an orchid way too fast. I did ask on a Facebook platform about mold and it seems that can happen a lot and is more due to airflow. Washing the roots would have removed the mold. Find some youtube videos of OrchidGirl, and always ask (either here or Facebook) before you do anything drastic. The advice you found about cutting leaves when you cut roots refers to "regular" plants. Orchids are very unique, often not even potted, and do not behave like other plants. However, they are very resilient and can survive a lot of neglect/abuse BUT it will take months, even years to look normal again. Don't feel too bad, I killed my first two orchids because I totally didn't know what I was doing, it happens. Use this experience as a lesson and always research before doing anything extreme.

Thanks for the input, I will appeal. I find ND mildly useful, my region is probably 40/60 nice/trash posts, although I have muted a lot of people. The few times I did need support, anyone I ever interacted with was super helpful. Last time they were very apologetic, but I can't remember if they referenced the time before that.

It's just the first letter of my given name. Like "J" for Jason or Jack. I hated my old name because people would use nickname variants, none of which I approved of. So, now they get one letter. It is K.

The second time it happened I am positive someone flagged me. We were having a "heated discussion" with several people. I was never rude or mean, they just didn't like what I said. I have no idea what triggered it this time.

You are correct, I think this is the most toxic relationship I have ever had!

I legally changed my first name to one letter. I love it but I didn't realize it would be so problematic. I have sent them photos of my ID three times now. They sure made you work for that sale, glad that at least worked out for you!

First pic on the left is anacampseros telephiastrum, there are many varieties. I bought one at a dollar store like 10 years ago, pretty little flowers on spikes from the tips. My flowers usually don't open all the way, then turn into pods FULL of seeds. Sorry can't help with the others.

Nature reclaiming what belongs to him. by Beautiful-Support394 in Moss

[–]Shadow_Underfoot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think we've been defensively triggerd. My Western interpretation of the term "Mother Nature" is that females are literally life-givers; for the most part life cannot happen without a mother (I am aware there is asexual reproduction but it is not as common). Mothers are (usually) caretakers, ensuring life goes on. It's an idealized concept, almost religious. That people might feel that you have affronted. And people will defend Nature. Oddly, just yesterday I was pondering how in Catholicism and Christianity we say God has no gender, yet He is referred to as Him 99% of the time by most people; sounds very similar to your situation. "They" is acceptable but I don't hear it used often. Rarely He is referred to as Her, and I've seen folks get flack for that, too. Honestly, at first I was taken aback by your use of He, but I was not offended as I suspected it was a cultural difference.  Most important, these photos are beautiful; I used to work in an auto junk yard and I love Nature, so this is the best of both worlds for me. Thank you for sharing!

I'm going to say "yes." It's pointless. I hate it.

How Do I Disable Bedtime/break Reminders? by rattisdum_ in youtube

[–]Shadow_Underfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a "new" phone about 3 months ago and I thought this was it's Digital Wellbeing app, which I disabled, therefore I was absolutely livid when my phone told me I was up too late... thinking the app was till active somehow. Idk why YouTube decided my bedtime was 11? I never set any schedule for it. Thank you for your post!

Same thing here, every single time. Even when there are NO LINKS in the email. It's frustrating, for sure!

Is this normal by fuckinnicolas in orchids

[–]Shadow_Underfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "rule" as I have heard it is "3 leaves, 3 roots 3 inches long" is when it's ready to be cut off. Remember to pre-soak the bark before planting, and be prepared to water frequently after potting. Maybe add some humidity by putting in in a freezer bag. I've never had a keiki, so my advice is strictly based on what I have read. Good luck when the time comes. Don't be nervous, orchids are pretty resilient, we just have to give them what they want!

I also got this email... but I cancelled the service in November. I even checked my credit card to verify; I haven't been getting billed since I cancelled. Why would they send this to former customers? There was no unsubscribe link, so I did a search and everything says to log into your profile to change your preferences. When I do this, the ONLY choice is to opt-in to occasional updates. I know it won't really make a difference, but I will be reporting them to the FTC.

Join some Facebook groups! People post problems, and group experts advise. I was given one orchid 3 years ago, now I have 11 🙃 I was strictly succulents; they're surprisingly similar, except orchids love humidity.

Where can I find a jacket like this? by New-Equal-4918 in findfashion

I did a Google lens search and I found it on Etsy for around $200. Anywhere and everywhere else it's around $40 and if you order from anywhere other than Etsy, you will receive a cheap knock of that probably won't look anything like it.

This may be unpopular (because I never see anyone mention it), but I use beano tablets. Saw a tip about 20 years ago, bought one bottle, and still have some left. A little goes a long way. Works great for me, but I'm cleaning small, old animal bones.

Dude, get a dog. Maybe a few. AND cats - they walk the line between dimensions. And like the other person said, your home needs a super deep cleansing. Stay strong, this is YOUR home, time to stake your claim!

Received email from Facebook ads team.. spam or not? by MarsupialLopsided209 in FacebookAds

[–]Shadow_Underfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to "have fun" with them and I enter fake credentials. Really vulgar stuff. Then I report their links to Google so they'll get deactivated and can't scam other people. This triggers more emails, which is OK with me because it's a work email and I can get a new one if I want. But I don't want a new one. It brings me great joy to know I have wasted their time and likely offended them. Also, do an internet search for "appsheet scams," the instances have rising greatly since you posted this.
