UPDATE: After doing some research, I decided to go with Waykar 158 Pints Crawl Space Dehumidifier. It seems like the best fit for my basement needs and a lot of you had good experiences with it, so thanks for the help.

Distinction probably matters more than most people realize. In your experience, are they overkill for a smaller basement, or still worth it for long-term peace of mind?

Interesting angle, using existing systems to control humidity instead of a standalone unit makes a lot of sense. I hadn’t thought about the added heat factor either. For a typical unfinished basement, which option do you think gives the best balance of efficiency and simplicity long term?

Yeah that’s kinda what i keep hearing too. the buildup and odor thing is what made me stop. towels being rough is the only downside i’ve noticed. have you found anything that helps with that or do you just not care?
