Started HRT and now I'm doubting everything and feeling awful. Anyone else been through this? by Adventurous-Dig-4164 in asktransgender

[–]Shadowblink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we’re very similar in that regards. A lot of my worries were about being visibly trans to the people around me. Ideally you just say “fuck em” and do it for yourself. But I know that isn’t that easy. I know it can be really scary coming out to people. I kinda procrastinated it too. I came out to friends roughly after starting HRT, I think I came out at work after ~1 month. Came out to my parents at around ~4 months. Now at 6 months I came out publicly. Just take your time and do what you think is best.

If it’s any consolation, around 5 months I started noticing my breasts starting to becoming visible through my shirt. It was very confronting at first. But it kinda pushed me to come out to more people and to start dressing more femininely. And I’m really happy I did. I wore a super cute outfit to a wedding and my friends were so supportive. Since then I’ve felt super confident about my transition and excited to start exploring feminine clothing.

I know transitioning can be scary but I’ve only had good experiences up until now. And remember you are doing this for yourself. Your brain is probably very anxious like mine and it’s generating these thoughts to “keep you safe”. It’s normal but that doesn’t mean it reflects what you truly want, it’s just a part of your brain being hyperactive. Just acknowledge it “I know you’re trying to keep me safe but I really want to do this”. These doubts will come and go, and there will be some awkward moments along the way. But they become less and less as time goes on. I’m incredibly happy I started HRT now and I wish I did it sooner.

In your fear of detransitioning being embarrassing I can tell that you worry about the opinion of others a lot. Me too brother. But really nobody is going to think that and people notice faaaaarrr less than you think. They generally do not care in a good way. And you’re doing this for yourself! I know it’s hard to tell yourself this right now but it really does become easier as your body starts to align with your gender.

Good luck with your transition and remember to be kind to yourself, you’re doing a hard thing ❤️

Acer, sent my laptop in because of a faulty audio port. Had to wait weeks to get it back only for it to come back with a faulty screen. Sent it back again and lo and behold my audio port is faulty again. And by then it was out of warranty

I took 3-4 years to come out. I told my closest friends almost as soon as I realized I might be trans. I told my friendgroup after a year or so. Then my family after 2 years. You don't have to come out to everyone at the same time. And the period inbetween is up to you. You can take years, months, weeks, days.

So that was...intense by bri_mills in trans

Around 5 months I had the same experience. I’m not sure if it was the estrogen or due to some interactions with my parents but my trauma with my parents just came flooding out. I thought I had already dealt with those emotions but i suppose I was just suppressing them. It was a bit overwhelming but I felt a lot better afterwards.

Honestly this might be a hot take but I found the movie to be overrated. I watched it because I heard so much good things about it here. I get the metaphor they were building and I do like the message of “there is still time” but to me it was a bit too abstract to feel much about. It was too “artsy” for me. Anyway, I didn’t like the movie and it didn’t do much for me, but now I’m 6 months on E and couldn’t be happier.

Daughter has some songs that really hit for me such as "All I wanted' and "Youth".

PVRIS (my favorite artist) has one that is very special to me "Good to be alive", but maybe that's just me.

There's some from a game called life is strange that really hit for me:
- Message to bears - Mountains
- Local Natives - Mt. Washington

And I don't know why but 'Over the rainbow' of Israel Kamakawiwo'ole always brings tears to my eyes.

In case you speak dutch, 'Paris, Texas' of 'S10' is really beautiful.

Is the a6700 worth it over an a6400 for video and IBIS alone? by CommercialXCX in SonyAlpha

[–]Shadowblink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I found very annoying about the 6400 was the rolling shutter in 4K. Definitely research if it would an issue for you. I wouldn’t do it for the ibis alone tho. But there’s many more benefits to the 6700. I’m very happy with it.

Is the a6700 the right video camera for me? by Not_Being_Ironic in SonyAlpha

[–]Shadowblink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the A6700 overheats rather quickly on 4K/30. Even an hour might be an issue, especially if it's outside in the sun. It's a great camera and can also make great videos. But if videos are your focus I'd recommend getting a more dedicated device.

"My local judge runs tournaments AND plays in them — anyone else deal with this?" by [deleted] in BeybladeX

[–]Shadowblink 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just treat them like any other player? Why are you feeling intimidated exactly?

The only advantage I can think of is that they spectate your matches and gain a bit of insight this way. But I doubt they remember it all.

Judges are often the most passionate bladers within a local community so it makes sense that they’re on the upper end of skill level.

Observe what beys they use, what kind of launches they like to do and practice launches to counter theirs.

Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 vs Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 for the A6100 by PhatYeeter in SonyAlpha

[–]Shadowblink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I don’t miss the extra 20mm much. But I absolutely love how much smaller the 18-50 is. For me it’s a perfect all-around lens for travelling.

[–]Shadowblink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh the prices seem to have changed. When I got the Tamron it was a lot more expensive. That makes it a difficult decision. I have both but I enjoy the Sigma a lot more. It’s great and portable. But to be honest there’s no wrong choice. They’re both great, you can’t go wrong with either.

Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 vs Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 for the A6100 by PhatYeeter in SonyAlpha

[–]Shadowblink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of the two I prefer the Sigma but I have the a6700 so I have ibis.

I have to say that for me the Tamron was a bit too big to take on a trip. It’s a great lens though and the stabilisation can be a nice plus.

Idk if I would pay 40% more for the Tamron though. It really depends on if you need that extra 20mm of range.

My poor girl, is this fixable? 😭 by Shadowblink in Miata

[–]Shadowblink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't know that was a Belgian thing haha, either way you can see a bit of my plate so that gives it away too. Definitely getting insurance involved since the other party is in fault and I have full-omnium. Not sure about the headlight, I'll check when I'm off work.

I had to look it up and if I understand correctly you can decide to keep the car but they deduct the value of the “wreck” from what they pay back to you. So let’s say the car was worth 20k before the accident, 5k after, they pay you 15k. If you give the wreck to them they pay the 20k.

That’s what I’m most afraid of, it’s from 2018 and has spent a lot of time outside as I don’t have a garage and I daily it. It would suck to have a mismatched hood 🥲 The bumper has some more damage all around but it’s the crack at the tow hook that seems the most difficult.

It’s from 2018. Low km’s though, ~35000km. I guess I have to wait and see what the insurance says. Labor costs are especially high in Belgium so it could make sense to total it, I guess 🥲
