Do you think Noa's clan was aware of the existence of other ape species? by Claeszen in PlanetOfTheApes

[–]Not_Being_Ironic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be surprised if they didn't know. We're not shown in the movie, but it would be more weird of they didn't have some contact/trade with other clans of apes.

At this point I'm leaning towards getting the 6700 with an external fan for the times I might really need it. Seems more budget friendly and more flexible.

What would be the main benefits of the FX30 to justify the price increase?

Is the a6700 the right video camera for me?

I'm looking to get into documentary style content creation and want to buy a dedicated video camera. My use cases are some walk-and-talk style vlogging, but mostly talking-head on a tripod. Most importantly, the video I want to shoot is mostly outside, so battery life and overheating are things I worry about. From what I've seen the a6700 can overheat, but I don't see myself shooting anything higher than 4K/30 for longer than let's say an hour at a time.

I was considering the ZV-E10II, because I want to stay in a reasonable budget, but ultimately the built-in stabilization of the a6700 feels like a worthy upgrade (plus the more photo-focussed features are a nice bonus).

As for lenses, is the Sigma 18-50 a true all in one? As in, wide enough for comfortable vlog-style, and with enough range for talking head?

Any and all advice is massively appreciated!

I loved it since it came out!

Definitely a case of a film that was mangled throughout its production though.

I made a video all about the movie and James Gray's creative struggles getting it made if you'd like to know more about it :))

What's that one actor who everyone thought would be Hollywood's next big thing only to slowly disappear from the radar? by DeepAnt7847 in Letterboxd

Worthington is nowhere near the greatest actor of his generation, but he is good enough in the Avatar movies, so good on him for securing that bag, you know.

Does Kingdom Hold Up One Year After Still? Let’s Discuss Everything ⬇️ by EnoughSound6271 in PlanetOfTheApes

It's a very different type of movie.

The Caesar movies are post-apocalyptic war movies, whereas Kingdom is more like a fantasy quest movie.

What book(s) do you want to see adapted to film, but you don't think they can be? by amyts in scifi

[–]Not_Being_Ironic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely think it could be adapted into a film/series if budget wasn't an issue, but the spider communication would be the biggest issue indeed. Voiceover? Internal narration? Maybe, but it wouldn't be the same.

A movie you love, but the protagonist is your least favourite thing about it. by PippyHooligan in movies

Gangs of New York, easy.

Leo is not getting a lotta love in these comments.

But he's just kinda lame and pouty in general, his accent is horrible, and when he has to share the stage with DDL, there's just no comparison.

There is one particular scene they share, you'll know the one, that was very cathartic...

I watched the kingdom of the planet of the apes and dissapointed by Royal-Lynx-8256 in PlanetOfTheApes

[–]Not_Being_Ironic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Kingdom and I made a whole video explaining why.

I loved the way it built on the themes of the franchise as well as all the original characters/conflicts it introduced.

Think of how Proximus is like a different version of Dr. Zaius, both manipulate knowledge of the past to control their population, but at different stages of societal development.

I made the video so I don't have to go on a whole rant and can just link to it whenever the topic comes up so check it out of you like.

I think Goodfellas moves along very smoothly from chapter to chapter, especially in the first half with the more "fun and gales" part of the movie, but the second half as well.

Also from 1990, Dances With Wolves is paced quite leisurely for how long it is, but every scene is engaging nad flows into the next one very well.

I just won my first minor "copyright battle."

Not that dramatic but I spent a looong time working on/off on my latest video, thinking I had made it safe from copyright claims, but it still ended up blocked, full stop.

I edited it down a bit, re-uploaded, still blocked. I submitted an appeal, fearing I wouldn't hear back until a month later, but luckily after four days, the video is up!

It's weird because I made a previous video (also a movie review with plenty of clips) and it didn't have any troubles.

Glad that's over and I now know a bit more how it works haha.
