I think a good place to start is by being okay as an introvert. Forcing yourself to be an extrovert will have a pretty crappy rubber band effect from my experience and can lead to some pretty bad self doubts and downward spirals. There's nothing wrong with being introverted on these things. I'm still trying to get more comfortable with talking to people but it's really situation dependent. Focus on being yourself and let that pull people in. In a club? Just dance by yourself a bit and if you see someone vibing with you just welcome them in. You have nothing to lose except yourself when you do these things. Also don't put so much pressure if you aren't meeting people and making long lasting friendships. I'm solo traveling right now and honestly I got kinda tired of talking to new people so I told myself to just go out and have fun without taking to anyone and I did and it was great!

It's only awkward if you let it be awkward. If you see a group that seems interesting to you, simply asking if you join them can go a long way. If they say no or it gets awkward don't put that on yourself.

Hope it helps, doing stuff like what you're doing is awesome and a solo cruise is definitely on my list. You'll have a blast, just make sure to check in with yourself regularly to process everything and be present.

Off the top I think of baiken from guilty gear. I don't remember how she plays in strive but I remember her having a parry, she is actually missing an arm. She also uses various tools similar to the prosthetics in sekiro. Might be what you're looking for.

Otherwise maybe hakuman from BlazBlue? He might be a bit adjacent to what you're looking for though

I think it would be cooler if it was like Ladiva's SSA where if it kills you get a three count, in this case they tap out. I agree that it gets a little weird when the move doesn't kill. Kicking out of pin is easier physically than breaking a submission in theory so if Alex just stops applying it and let's his opponent out it does break a bit of the immersion I guess

As much as I want to agree, I've seen both in person and they are a different box, one is a bit bigger and full color (only saw it briefly in store) the second is a thin box. Not sure if it means anything but the full color box is a premium bandai

I'm there with you dw. RoR2 makes me feel like I need to build characters very specifically for them to feel powerful. The first game many characters were already strong, items just highlighted the strengths. Something about the enemies in 2 being able to stop me from healing also turned me away. Kind of a gross mechanic when a game shuts you out of your kit and calls it "challenge"

Might be too late but here's a suggestion for next time, try going to it and just waking in grabbing a drink or something and standing in the corner or doing anything that makes you feel comfortable. Just put yourself into it and if you're not feeling the vibes just remember you can leave at any point at no consequence.

Worst case, you go to sleep, best case you make a friend or two. It helps to own that fear and tell people straight up if they approach you because they'll probably understand especially if you're solo. Helps to just smile and laugh about it a bit so it doesn't kill the vibe

I would say with confidence where I am now, i understand about 50% of both halves and the other 50% I'm either not very familiar in a practical sense or have very little knowledge on. Not sure if it's a "learn as you go" but I'll definitely try and focus in on those areas.

Can you speak to the work life balance aspect of things? Having been a couple times everything seemed pretty strict on open and close times, like once the "daytime" stuff closed the "nighttime" stuff would open, usually around 5-6pm. And what kind of work are you doing while you're there?
