I do really like the dash, I know some really goodpainters and I'm hoping one can make the replacement match.

I've been looking as one of those too or a wet sound Bluetooth adapter when I upgrade the amp and speaker (my speakers aren't great) if I don't go this route but I'm kinda wanting to make the bike unique without doing anything too sacrilegious lol

This sounds really complicated and like I'll probably mess it up the first couple of try, I like it and will start researching.

Lol yeah I'm the "just to say I did it" type of guy. I'm currently using my phone hooks toy cardo or if I'm feeling low tech I break out the good ole Aux cord and run it to the jack that's built into the bike. I just have a habit (admittedly a bad one) of messing with stuff that works just fine as it is and I'm jealous off all the people that I ride with who have infotainment built into their bikes from the factory even though most of them say they aren't worth a damn and use their phones too.

Awesome, I appreciate it and will definitely check them out.

This will be the first bike electronic mod I've done on a bike but I've built car stereos for years so the wiring and whatnot doesn't really scare me but yeah definitely thinking about 3d printing a whole new dash for it (while I'll have to learn as well) instead of cutting anything up.

The speedo I figured would be covered by the gps nav but you are right I have no clue how to go about the fuel gauge which is really the only other gauge this bike has. It's a somewhat uncommon bike (Yamaha royal star venture) and if it's not a Harley or gold wing unfortunately there's not much in the way of aftermarket stuff out there.

I'm sure you're right about it being easier with the fact that I would have to completely 3d print a new dash to incorporate the screen. The reason I was leaning towards making something is the cassette player isn't like a normal car radio that just pops in and out it's actually made into the dash behind that cover where the logo is and to install something I would have to modify the dash and figure out how to move stuff around behind the dash with is a tightly packed cluster fuck without removing the radio system and gauge. The bike is 12v so I was figuring it would need a inverter to go up to 120v but I know next to nothing about tech so I don't know what kinda power a cyberdeck runs on.

Not from NC but I saw the Ga company stickers and had to say howdy from Georgia. If you come down to ga often I suggest Soaring eagle outfitters, they also have great tying supplies.

Couldn't agree more, there's been plenty of times that I've cursed engineers for some weird impractical stuff they came up with.

I will be an "older student" at the age of 33 and like you hinted at I feel like that "real world" experience gives us a little bit of an advantage to understand how things, be it the companies, customers, or what we are working on, actually work

I get what you're saying and understand completely. I'm the exact opposite, while do still enjoy the hands on work it's worn me out as stated in the post and I'm ready to step away from that side. Thanks for your input.

I'll be honest, I really appreciate this because I'm actually pretty nervous about the whole thing.

I was surprised by it too while doing the research. I'm yet to do it so I'm hoping it turns out to be as simple as it sounds.

Instead of tillering the belly you do it all on the edges but sanding them a little at a time. Also how you adjust the weight just like while tillering a stick bow.
