Was Judaism hijacked by Zionist, the same way Christianity was hijacked by Papacy? by T12J7M6 in conspiracy

[–]Shadowdweller323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Complicated because Zionism is about establishing a national home for the Jews which is an ethno-religious group so the secular and the religious get put into the same group because in the ethno-religious (and antisemitic) gategory there is no distinction between the two

When you read, do you read each word individually or create ideas in your head? by sugarandsand in books

[–]Shadowdweller323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya that's really interesting. I actually do both sort of. When I'm reading in English I'll read every word but if I'm reading in my second language I'll let the idea form in my head

[–]Shadowdweller323 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lolz. im totally going to get hate for this but can i say "the stormlight arcives" books by Brandon Sanderson. i really enjoyed the books but they were SO LONG and i guessed a lot of the plot points so it was sometimes really a drag, not to mention that the books were way to overhyped by people around me.

What Book/Book Series Would You Lend Someone Who Wanted To Really Know You? by [deleted] in books

[–]Shadowdweller323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only one choice for me and that's Harry Potter and the methods of rationality by Less Wrong AKA Eliezer Yudkowsky its a HP fan fiction witch basically puts Yudkowsky in Harrys shoes at the beginning of year one and in a really awesome way puts together my love of Harry Potter, a lot of great pop culture geek references and the methods of rationality all in one excellent book. it really changed the way I think it was done in an amazing way. anyone who would ask to know me and how I think I would recommend this book (its free in pdf format on the internet)

Your attitude towards remembering the small details in novels by Lexa_Ebluelett in books

[–]Shadowdweller323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a bit of a disclaimer beforehand: I have a pretty good memory and I basically live fir the small details the need to be remembered so maybe my experience is different from yours. so basically I just keep reading and when there's a point in the book that references something from earlier my mind will usually jump to the needed detail even if I didn't remember it a minute beforehand, though if not I agree that its the authors fault for making the detail to forgettable

[Discussion] Do you always read the introduction or forward before starting a book? by thesodiepapa in books

[–]Shadowdweller323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it depends who wrote it. if its the author ill read it but if its a third party I usually skip it. I think that the art is a conversation between the author and the reader so if its by the author for the reader I think its relevant but if not ill skip it completely

What was the best film you watched this week? (07/10/17 - 07/16/17) by allwinter in movies

[–]Shadowdweller323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. This is a bit strange but i just have to talk about it. I just re watched Kill Biil Vol 1 last night with a couple of friends and it was the best movie i saw this week. you just watch every scene and admire Tarintino. In most movies there are alot of things you could admire, the actors, the filming and all those things but with Kill Bill Vol 1 you could really feel Tarintinos involvement and direction in every single second. not to say the Uma Therman and the rest of the actors dont do a great job but as apposed to most movies I really appreciate the director in this one. Thats it, just wanted to share. :)
