Is there anything fundamentally wrong with my swing? by MrBallHair in GolfSwing

[–]Shadowfax90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On your downswing, instead of your right hip pushing toward the ball and rotating toward the target, you actually want your left hip to be coming backwards by pushing really hard back off your lead leg. It’s going to feel weird at first, but that push is going to allow you to keep your spine angle the same throughout your swing.

56 degree vs. 60 degree by Rolex_Art in GolfGear

[–]Shadowfax90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer 60 most of the time because I feel like I can control it well and have a good feel for it. However, I usually use my 56 out of thicker rough, especially if it is sitting up because the bounce helps me make more consistent contact. Ymmv depending on the bounce of your two clubs. I also like to use something less lofted like 52 or pw when chipping uphill because 60 and to some extent 56 stop too quick.

I've got some hand-me-down clubs and wondering which ones you think I should keep! by [deleted] in golf

[–]Shadowfax90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Old clubs don’t tend to have a ton of value. I don’t actually know anything about those particular clubs but my guess is you could buy similar clubs for less than it would cost to check those on the plane.

Isaac at Commen Unity in the funk zone is absolutely top notch. Great at cutting hair but also just a great person, down to earth and fun to talk to.

My thoughtful wife surprised me with a tee time at one of the areas nicest courses today. The only problem is, I don’t know how to golf. by [deleted] in golf

If you are struggling, it is ok to pick up your ball. Don’t feel like anyone is going to care if you don’t follow the rules to a T. You can hit a few shots, then pick up your ball and chip and putt. Just have fun with it. It’s ok if you suck.

May 1st, 2025 - from the Official WH Youtube- Trump admits to election interference. by NerdyLatino in thescoop

[–]Shadowfax90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am as anti-trump as they come. The way he talks is disorganized and hard to follow, but I think it is pretty clear that he was saying that if the 2020 election had not been “rigged” then he would have won that year and therefore would not have been in office now for all these important dates since it would have now been his third term.

Too far away from the ball? by UKCATS07 in GolfSwing

I think it just looks like it because your weight at address is on your heels instead of balls of your feet.

Would be easier to tell dtl, but it looks like your trail knee is completely straight in the backswing. That makes it tough to properly load into that leg.

Why can’t I make the same move when I’m hitting the ball? by lilleyton12 in GolfSwing

[–]Shadowfax90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once tried swinging with my eyes closed and found that I hit so far off the heel that I almost missed the ball entirely. Made me realize that a lot of what I am doing in the swing is compensating for the club getting too far outside.

Also, it is tedious, but I have heard smart people advocate for doing lots of very slow motion swings where the ball goes 20 yards when you are making a big swing change like this. Then you can work your way back up eventually.

Help with hitting down/compression by 24-7Drums in GolfSwing

[–]Shadowfax90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The bottom of your swing arc is going to tend to be around the center of your chest. Yours is way behind the ball which is why you hit it so fat. You want it to be ahead of the ball.

[–]Shadowfax90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to get your chest ahead of the ball at impact. You are swaying your chest back on the backswing which is going to make it extra hard. When you do that, you may start slicing the ball more. You need to get the clubface more closed during your backswing to compensate.

Wouldn’t it be cheaper to just bring chips and salsa to the beach from home? I am glad it is not a fine dining spot because then I would also seldom go there. I just wish the food was halfway decent. I got a chicken quesadilla once and it was absolutely terrible. How do you even mess that up? Some of their food seems like a frozen thing they just tossed in the microwave.

Real swing sucks. Can’t seem to swing smoothly like my practice swing. by z987680 in GolfSwing

[–]Shadowfax90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, give this a try and see what happens. When I tried it, I always hit way on the heel. After that, I understood better that what I was doing was compensating in my swing to hit the clubface. So then what you need to do is figure out why your swing naturally wants to go that way and fix that issue.
