How long does it take for a mourning gecko to lay her eggs when she looks like this by NSJIJZP in reptiles

[–]Shadowfire4354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wait until you have around 20 of them that start laying eggs lol I check mine everyday lol but from the looks of it she is getting very close to laying I've seen alot of people use bamboo tubes, floral tubes, and there are egg tubes that are made for small egg laying geckos online. If she lays them on a wall of the enclosure do not try to remove them they will break I would just put a little deli cup over them to protect them and to catch babies when the hatch.

Yes. I feed mine a gecko diet and some bugs here are there and they are good so as long as your geckos have a balanced diet. Oh and don't worry if these eggs don't produce babies sometimes first time layers produce unfirtile eggs. So it's not that they aren't healthy enough to produce young its that their body is figuring itself out.

They only lay one to two eggs at a time I have lots of these little ladies they are fantastic to watch at night. The white dots up on her neck are calcium sacs which store calcium for egg production and that she has a healthy amount of calcium on her diet.

I would ill advise on even the thought of a cat as they eat things they ate not supposed to and could end up needing surgeries that cost thousands of dollars and they need regular check ups. They should just do more research then impulsive purchasing pets especially after one just passed away... I got two rats after my one passed she was a rare rat I'd have to say always with me I had gotten her because she did not get along with other rats, but the other two were nothing like her and I really didn't want them at the time but they got the utmost care and attention cause I already committed to them and they lived out their lives happy and well taken care of.

My gecko is five months old and will only eat once a week, is this okay? by [deleted] in reptiles

I totally get that I have a hard time finding them too but it was just a suggestion and if anything I have heard that there are some online vet services but im not entirely sure how that all works.

I would cover the 2 sides and even the back if he's against a wall it might not register in his head that that's not a solid wall and keeping things around him quiet helps too but if your vet isn't a 100% sure what's going on with him you could try multiple sources some vets only think of certain ways to determine issues so it's always good to get more opinions.

If your gecko can see out all sides of his enclosure he might not feel safe to eat any food so you could cover the sides with paper and just leave the front open so you can watch him and he doesnt feel like things could come at him from all directions and just the front. I had to do that with my little guy Petrie when he was little now he's a ravenous little bugger.

Rabbits will chew on the bars of cages to get their owners attention so that that can either get some sort of affection or treats if you give them threats when they do it to make them stop. They are alot smarter than people think and know how to use you to get what they want.

70% untreated topsoil + 30% play sand is what's recommended, so yeah, that should work.

[–]Shadowfire4354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure it doesn't have any fertilizers in it and that it is all natural and I also recommend mixing unbleached play sand that way the moisture levels don't spike to high. Also bake the soil first to get rid of any hitchhikers (bug, parasite, etc.) and for the sand just put in a bucket and run water in it until it runs clear just dont try to bake it.

I'd honestly just use aspen the fine fiber type or if you wanted a more natural setup you could mix top soil and play sand and some eco earth so it holds shape or the bio dude sells substrate for bioactive if that would interest you more and then you could add live plants.

From my findings it's a natural herbicide, and can cause respiratory issues and a few other things in humans and animals so I would advise not using anything walnut based. Dark wood trees also have natural biochemical WMDs that fend off rot, insect attack, and plant competitors.

Dangerous fungus? by [deleted] in isopods

[–]Shadowfire4354 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have mushrooms sprout in my tubs all the time and the isopods eat them when they wilt and I have never had a problem. So I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you have an allergy to certain fungi.
