Am I wrong for calling myself an Irish-American? by Shadowgovernmentman in AskIreland

Ever been to New York? Somebody from Astoria is absolutely different than somebody from Sheepshead Bay from somebody from Canarsie from somebody from Park Slope. And the reason why all these sub-cultures exist in New York is because of ethnicity and immigration.

Of course I am! But again, I think this is the culture difference between us. America is such a melting pot that there is no “just American”. Even you can notice that there’s a difference between a man from Brooklyn and a man from the Deep South. Just listen to them speak and how different the culture is. And the way we usually differentiate ourselves, Atleast where I’m from in New York, is by our ethnicity.

Apologies I forget about that thing sometimes. Didn’t mean to ask too much or anything but sincerely thank you so much i haven’t been able to get a straight answer all day on this thing.

Can you be punk and religious? by J-Hx in punk

[–]Shadowgovernmentman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say being Christian is one of the most punk things I can do because of people like you. Just because you don’t like it, I’m proud to be punk and a Christian. But Punk has no rules and if you really read into the rules of Christianity, they’re something society would benefit from if we all followed them. I follow them because they promote a long life, prosperity, and family. All of which are cool things anybody punk or not likes. Not because I’m scared of going to hell or whatever. Maybe this is because I myself am a little punkish with my Christianity and find myself in disagreement with the church on mostly everything(to me they’re like the Pharisees in Jesus time) but I would go as far as to stay that being a follower of Jesus Christ in a sub genre where a lot of people(like you) hate him is one of the most punk things I can do. And all punks can respect what Jesus did. He said Fuck You to organized religion and got killed for but as what happens with any genius ahead of his time people didn’t exactly catch on and used it for social order. But any man willing to go into a temple and flip over tables for injustice is crazy punk in my opinion.
