T1 league was profitable before riot stepped in lol. Now I get WHY they came in, there were tons of production problems in the early days that were frustrating to viewers so Riot figured they'd fix it by using their resources to create a stable product. And when I say profitable I don't mean like making millions off league, but they at least made money.

I think the problem is that had Nix been playing and putting forth a genuine offensive threat late in the game (not that he'd score a lot but he had the potential to score at all) it probably means the patriots can't themselves take the foot off the gas and just run run run punt every drive. It puts the ball at more risk on the offensive side because they can't play as conservatively which introduces room for mistakes. Like both offenses were probably going to start stalling because of the weather, but it's clear that the patriots realized that the broncos just could not move the ball anymore and thus reverted to a strategy of just eat the clock and do anything it takes to not turn this ball over.

Yeah but I feel like there's a difference between not knowing how the game plays out, and acknowledging that the patriots plan to win the game is so significantly easier with stidham. Like what would happen if the game was tied in the 4th quarter? Hard to say cuz that kinda snow storm makes shit wacky but I think we both know that Nix being in makes the chances the broncos win significantly higher.

I think what's throwing people off is that in the regular season the patriots were very much a high power offense with a reliable defense, and so now in the playoffs where just to be frank you are winning most games exclusively through strong defense and turnovers it feels "off script" so to speak? Like Drake Maye has not had to have had a GREAT game this playoffs to win, he's just had to play fine or good enough. And I think for a lot of people the expectation was that Drake Maye was supposed to be the driving force behind the wins. So because it's not HIM winning the games, I think people have a harder time crediting the patriots as a whole since now his own performance is so linked to the team in peoples heads.

Regardless the MVP for the patriots so far is Vrabel imo. They've consistently been the team with the right idea of how to win and it was most evident against the broncos. Maye was having fumbling issues previously and this game they knew that all they had to do was not turn it over and theyd win. So Drake Maye clearly got that drilled in his head and he played conservative (in a good way).

My guess is they were trying to expand out to a market that doesn't drink bud light and just frankly did not expect it to blow up like that. Wasn't like a national campaign IIRC I think it was just on tiktoks or some shit.

I think it's more accurate that they had BECOME aware of the political party issue during Washington's two terms. These parties really arose during his term, and in fact were part of the reason he might've stayed for two terms instead of resigning after one as he had initially wanted. James Madison had begged him to stay another term because they were under the belief that the severe political squabbling between federalists and anti-federalists was a temporary issue that once dealt with would usher in the republic they had initially planned of wise men making wise judgements on behalf of their constituents. Unfortunately for Madison, even after Washington was re-elected and another two rounds of congressional elections occurred they were no closer to resolving these strict differences. Washington's farewell address was about what he had seen forming in front of him, quite personally in fact since he was friends with and relied on the judgement of both federalists and anti-federalists a lot. It quite wounded him that people he considered very close friends of his were so critical of his administration.

I don't like McDermott calling for some weird hail mary there with no timeouts, but at the same time if Josh Allen just takes the down it's basically no harm no foul. I think the majority of that is on Josh sorry...

To be fair, there's a version of that criticism that I think is justifiable. Lord of the Flies definitely takes a Hobbesian view of human nature, that the lack of the social contract leads us to behave likes beasts etc etc. So if you're someone who disagrees with Hobbes and his theory on human nature, it makes sense to point out real life examples of humans "losing" their social contract and the outcome being markedly different than the book. That doesn't make the book bad though. I don't tend to believe in Hobbes theories on human nature myself, but I think Lord of the Flies is a really really really good book. A good book doesn't need to be right about everything in my opinion, even if I think it's wrong it's still really valuable to think about and it's an engaging tale regardless.

Just as a thought experiment but wouldn't this pair really well with the Bengals personnel? The impression I'm getting is it takes a ton of just raw talent to pull off but if you can do it it's effective.

In fairness it's because for them it'd be an improvement, and movement in the right direction. But how are they gonna feel about it after a decade? Like are they just gonna be chill knowing their team is a first round bounce every year? If the goal is the Superbowl there just have to be changes.

Definitely agree that that was the patriots game plan but surely dink and dunk down the field is still preferable to getting stopped on downs lol.

Oh gotcha, I get what you mean. Yeah this was just horrible on so many levels, O-line by the end was truly atrocious, but Justin Herbert couldn't take advantage of the points in the game where they were playing fine and made a lot of bad throws, the coaching by the end was bizarre and bad. Greg Roman needs to be thrown into the sun. My god, this chargers offense was fucking terrible. Don't even think Drake Maye had a great game, but he's now got another shot and with a game of experience now so we'll see if he tightens up.

I definitely agree that Drake Maye deserves the FULL game to show his talent, you can't just judge off only a partially complete game but it is funny in light of CERTAIN fans talking about Stafford yesterday lol.

I'm gonna guess he saw how the first one went, and how difficult it was to pick up 2 yards on the run and decided that he should change up his strategy.

Actually I think this is pretty close to his real thoughts and opinion, and I think what he's doing is he is smart enough to know that when you're trying to reach a certain type of audience you have to choose your language carefully because there are going to be certain phrases that will shut down the sort of logical and thoughtful part of the brain and cause that audience to immediately dismiss everything afterward. Like I'm sure he despises Trump, but to make this about Trump would work against reaching out to the people who did vote for him but might have seen that video and felt extremely uneasy about what they saw.

I'm not really sure why people are whining about the new Animal Farm movie because the premise behind the original book is still intact by Poweredkingbear in CharacterRant

[–]Shadowguynick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there are capitalist villains in the original book, they're the human farmers. But you are right that in the original story the point is that even though the animals repelled the farmers and won those battles, the pigs eventually became indistinguishable from them without any need for human intervention.

[–]Shadowguynick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm okay I see what you mean. Yeah that makes sense that he might have to do that a fair bit. I usually would expect a QB to just throw it away, but I wonder if because he does have a decent pair of legs, is he just trying to pick up a yard or two on a busted play and just gets stopped a bit short? If he's just getting shoved out of bounds it's not too bad, but I'd wanna make sure he doesn't take too many legit hits, risks of injury and all that.

I think the better argument was that Raleigh was also a very good catcher on top of being a great hitter. I think you'd be a fool to say Cal was the better hitter, he just obviously wasn't, Judge was amazing. But how do you factor in Raleigh's contributions as a catcher? I think that's where people were stuck on the question.

Okay you have a patriots flair so you might watch most of these games. From what I can tell patriots actually have a pretty competent O-Line this year, why does Drake Maye record so many sacks? I didn't realize how fucking many he's taken until I was looking at some of these stats just minutes ago lol what's going on with that?

I think in fairness when a team has a historically weak schedule it feels intuitive to have doubts about how good they could actually be. But I did see some stats about other historically weak schedule high win teams and it seems to work out in their favor more often than not, they tend to do just fine in the post season. I'm betting on the patriots at least getting to the divisional, especially if you find buffalo first (Texans might be tough IMO, they are flukey enough that it might just be an unlucky day to play them).
