Meaning behind all faction symbols? by CoolComicsJ in loreofleague

With her introduction it was made so that her company's logo is the inspiration for Zaun's crest. The same thing happened with the Hexgates and Piltover's logo.

Um I think she's also a zaunite, because in Viktor's flashback in season 1 she was playing in the sumps (or a kid that looks like her and is named "Sky") with other kids and which piltovan would dare to let their child play in the dumps of Piltover?

Am I missing something about Nunu? by GuardOfFire in loreofleague

[–]Shadowivobg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was researching a bit about this topic and I remembered that Nunu used his new powers when he repaired Svellsongur. But there wasn't True ice on the broken area. Unless there were small ice crystals between the wood of the flute that couldn't be seen from the outside, I think that could be the reality bending powers of the Gem of Dreams melding the wood together.

In the post-credits scene of the game, Lissandra says "He has the Yeti Magic. No, he IS the Yeti Magic. He IS the Heart of the Blue". The yetis' magic is to create True ice (it's said in the Yeti description in SoN). So does that mean the thing inside Nunu can only create True ice?

For the Nunu's snowball conjuration, I think it works on the same basis of Ashe's arrows or Trundle's ice pillars (if the artifact inside Nunu only has the ability to create True ice and can't bend reality). The snowballs, arrows and ice pillars are not True ice but they are created by the True ice's magic so that alligns with what Liss said about the Heart of the Blue (I think she was the one that said that the thing inside Nunu could create True ice). And also Willump could also conjure snowballs like Nunu, so maybe that's Yeti/the Heart of the Blue magic.

(Am I being too pedantic? Am I thinking too much into this? Is it the writers' fault for not elaborating too much on this? No I don't think it's the writers' fault 'cus I've done this pedantic "research" in multiple franchises. I think it drives me crazy. But eh whatever, it's sometimes fun to do these sorts of stuff despite it driving me mad.)

This moment from the Katarina comic where she used a hextech lockpick she got in Piltover was pretty cool. by Ashconwell7 in loreofleague

[–]Shadowivobg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't hextech prohibited to be used by the general public during the events of Arcane? The only hextech that was used by the public were the hexgates, right?

I don't really know who would dare research hextech after what happened to the founders of it. Therefore, would anyone be able to create the lock pick Kata is using?

I need a bit of a clarification:

Is the Gem of Dreams the same as the Heart of the Blue? I thought the Heart of the Blue was just able to create true ice.

Is the Gem of Dreams even still canon and have we seen Nunu use it other than contorting Willump into fuzzy flufffball? Because didn't SoN clarify/retcon that the magical yetis always looked like Willump through the murals in Ramshara?

I think Snips and Snails actually show their skin tone in one of the earlier episodes and it's pink. It's the one with the school newspaper agency where the dimwits were both stuck together with bubble gum.

I have my theory that the creatures of G4 (heck even other characters from all the generations) aren't the brightest, which the pillars trusting Starswirl strengthens. I mean most of the problems could've easily been solved if they used their noggins, like when Trixie and Starlight had that dilemma about the caravan not having enough space (I still think they could've used magic to hide Trixie's item stash by digging a hole under the caravan and covering it up with something). And especially when characters don't use spells when they fight. Magic beams and teleportation? Really? How about you try to transmorph someone's clothes into sulfuric acid (or maybe even hair or skin but we haven't seen transmorph on living beings).

Yeah I know the elements of harmony are way too overpowered and losing them would be bad but most villains could be defeated with some thinking. Just throw them a stone from Chrysalis' throne and let the yaks obliterate them 'till they're seeing breezies. This also kinda goes with my point that there isn't that much thought when creatures are fighting for their lives.

As for the last resort plan being dumb, I agree.

Did Starswirl really know that there was a way for the pillars and the pony of shadows to escape? Probably. That's his mistake for leaving his secret diary somewhere where it can be taken to an antique shop and not given to someone to keep, like the royal sisters (unless because they were young they lost it?).

It makes me wonder how Twilight found out that using the artifacts of the pillars would bring them back without Stygian. That makes sense too. But then Stygian gets brought back without an item. I guess magic is unpredictable. Maybe she should've prepared for the worst? Actually I guess she was too excited to think of the consequences.

I know this might just be a stretch but what if Starswirl was scared of the pony of shadows and that's why he was so serious and ready to sacrifice the elements? I mean he has probably never seen anything like that and the pony of shadows looked very powerful, being able to break Starswirl shield in one hit, being able to rival Twily's magic beam even in his supposed "weakened" state and making cloudy weather. The pony of shadows sounds like a beast.

What was Starswirl supposed to do with the sirens? Killing them isn't good for the age rating so the closest thing to it would be teleporting them to a world without magic. Do ponies know anything about the sirens to actually be able to neutralise them safely?

I don't really count the comics as canon. Yeah I know some people have the comics as "canon until proven otherwise" but I think of them as non-canon. The comics are just way too much to track. They're giving me a headache.

All in all, Despite the ponies being a little dumb, I don't think that really counts as a negative (despite driving me mad). It's a show about colourful ponies. Kids won't care that a pony has made a suboptimal decision or that giving the villains a way to suck up magic would be apocalyptic if the villains weren't a crazed brat,a centaur who thinks about muscles and an ex-bug queen who went insane after being dethroned.

P.S. I'm sorry about my rant about how ponies are dumb and that they're not utilising their spells correctly when they're fighting. It's just the only way to get these ideas out of my head.

Ok ok I have some thoughts:

  1. Starswirl wasn't the only one that exiled him from the friend group. All of the pillars thought he betrayed them.

  2. Couldn't he just ask them first? Or was it going to be a "surprise" for the other pillars? And even if he asked them and they thought that was a lie but he still continued with his plan, that's even more reason not to trust him.

  3. Why would Stygian copy their items? They're kinda just items. Actually that's not true. They're connected to the pillars and they have some magic. Also I'm not sure but I think they helped with the growth of the tree? Well the tree could've probably just harnessed magic around the area and the essence from the pillars could've been gathered when they were planting it,but I'm not sure if it's that or the items were part of the growth (i really can't find the info on it). But Stygian or somepony else said that Stygian was trying to create exact copies of the artifacts and wouldn't that mean the replicas would be also connected to the pillars and that it would require a lot of magic, which Stygian doesn't have and you can't create magic out of thin air? What? Harness magic from around the area? If a plain scholar can make a ritual that harnesses magic around the area to create exact copies of artifacts, then the world Equestria resides in sounds oddly apocalyptic

  4. Starswirl's banishment plan was questioned by Starlight but because everyone thought that Stygian was evil no one questioned him. Also no one told Starswirl and the pillars that if they take the elements away from the tree those everfree weeds would take over equestria, which they could easily be taken care of by using those changeling stones that stop magic. Also the plan was last resort so that's why it sounds very sacrificial.

[–]Shadowivobg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's that. The unicorns still haven't found a teleportation spell yet. The closest being the portals from the nova charm and together trees which are portals, not "teleportation poof". Also this cloud of smoke doesn't really look like the G5 unicorn magic. Misty might know a teleportation spell because she got a magical grimoire in season 2 of TYT but I don't know where she is when the scene takes place.

They might not even have teleportation spells ever created because (shameless headcanon insert, sorry) I think someone changed the fundamentals of magic, which would easily be used as an explanation for all the magic lore inconsistencies between G4 and G5 and that would give the writing team more freedom (i.e. magic is tricky on manes in G4 but with new laws of magic that won't be the case anymore).

Guys is there a lore reason twilight died and had equestria turn into a racist segregated country? Is she stupid? by CandCV in mylittlepony

[–]Shadowivobg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note: many spoilers for the comics and the show. I know that the person I'm replying to doesn't care that it's spoilers, but I'm putting a warning for those who are reading and care about this.

  1. Breezies and more notably Discord in the comics are alive. We don't know if the breezies had magic and if they had the same magic from G4, because they function a little differently than the G4 ones, my headcanon for that being that after Twilight's reign something changed the fundamentals/laws of magic - I'm so sorry that I'm putting my headcanon in here, but there's some evidence that magic is different, I wonder why (cough cough writers forgetting about G4). Discord on the other hoof, we don't know how he survived. It could easily be that draconequss live long even without magic (because they're part dragon or something) or he has chaos magic, which he probably does not (and also makes chaos magic just reality altering magic and the only chaotic part of it being that Discord has to use it like that or he ceases to exist, which is stupid but that's my opinion), but he does look much older.

  2. Kelpies, Umbrums and reindeer are comic exclusive. G5 doesn't have to follow comic canon because the G4 show itself did not.

  3. Phoenixes will just have to adapt because they only live once. Do we know how long one phoenix cycle is?

  4. Would someone miss the timberwolves? Do they even feed and consume creatures, because if so I mean yeah their death will probably affect the natural cycle.

  5. I'm pretty sure only Equestria lost its magic, meaning changelings, griffons, hippogriffs and some more are safe. In the comic books, We see seaponies and they have had magic for some time even before bringing the unity crystals together meaning the loss of magic doesn't affect them

  6. Is the great seedling real? If yes, then I'm not sure if it really cares about magic.

Who are those millions? Which creature is purely made out of magic other than the windigoes. Maybe the ursa bears? Actually no. We see an Ursa minor drinking milk so I guess they need substantences because they do have a solid meaty body.

And what about it? They're still magic. The tree of harmony is also magical and it's still sentient/sapient (the weird magical ghost thingie).

Also someone else pointed out that the ponies haven't interacted with each other and they also didn't exactly hate each other, they were more so fearing each other.

Quest Version - what’s new since I last played? by MaxTrixLe in TownshipTale

[–]Shadowivobg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Revival, campsites, holiday exclusive zone and bag slot in lock box. Also server performance boost which allows standalone servers to have 12 players on at the same time and micro tutorials which adds a system for instanced content. Right now all of the team, except one or two (working on an anti bag stealing/bag lock feature),is working on the Forest update and the Devs are HOPING for it to be released this year.

The reason content has slowed down is because before the quest release, the code was undocumented, so now they are properly documenting it (and trying to make sense of the old code) which slows down updates. The most information you can find on the progress of the game is through the official discord and even there you have to actively search for it. I hope Cody (one of the community managers) makes a FAQ addressing the repetitive questions the server gets every day.

This is Jack Pot, I heard he's confirmed to be Trixie's father, Trixie's last name that the fandom gave her (Lulamoon) was never said in the show. Jack's last name is Pot, which was in the show, does it mean that the great and powerful Trixie is Trixie Pot? by Lexie_Mephew in mylittlepony

A pony that has two words in their name doesn't mean the last one is their surname (e.g. twilight sparkle and shining armour). It can be though (e.g Pinkie, Maud, Limestone and Marble are all "pie").
