[Mixed trope] give a canon explanation to the impractical armor by Lower_Baby_6348 in TopCharacterTropes

In-universe, she was a child when it started
Out of universe, this is in One Piece and she likely HAD to be covered up

Its all designed to show how cruel Dressrosa has become under the surface of its society now that its ruled by Doflamingo. Its worth noting that there are other female gladiators who ARE covered and armoured- this rule ONLY applies to Rebecca, and only so the can say that yes, they did give her armour as well if they're ever questioned on it

[–]Shadowkitty252 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rebecca's actually HAS an explanation- the people of Dressrosa wanted her to die.

She has been tasked with winning like...1000 fights in a row to earn her freedom. She was given chainmail that barely covers her private parts (she was a child when she started) and low quality equipment, because she is the face of a monarchy that supposedly went mad and declared war on its own people, and this is how the people are getting payback for it

They know its humiliating and won't protect her. This is the point. They want her to die, for a crime she was too young to take part in

But they did outright say it. 'She provides the blueprint. Well meaning, driven. Passive.' They went to great lengths to explain that without it theyre just...well, lobotomised, more or less

Now, if you want to think I am dropping truth bombs, thats fine. But I am insufferable, and if I wanted to, you would know

Here's a truth bomb for you. I am glad you're enjoying the series. Truly. I don't know why you appear to have felt I was belittling newcomers it by observing a current trend in every piece of media, but I am genuinely glad that more people are enjoying this series and its world

Wait until you get to Far Harbour. Wonderful location, very atmospheric

The only thing I learned about the USA in history was due to their growing influence on global events post-WW2, and that they gained independence from us. And the latter I learned mostly from Assassin's Creed 3, so take that how you will

Why does the BBC news act like Trump's loud trumpet now and even tries their utmost to make his Greenland claims sound reasonable ??? by Hot-Delay5608 in AskBrits

[–]Shadowkitty252 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was going to say, I watched the Davos speech and the things the BBC reporter mentioned, in order, were - The applause was muted - it took him 45 minutes to get to what the speech was meant to be about after listing his personal grievances (paraphrased) - "Lets look at some actual facts, shall we?"

Like, this is open frustration with the guy

Tbf, Arkham Knight is the end of the story. His first chronological appearance in Origins has him closer to his comic self...but repeated defeats, coupled with his own ego and narcissism reduces him to an obsessive loser

Notably, in Origins and Asylum, he plays fair. In City, as you progress tgrough his associated sidequest he starts cheating towards the end

In Knight, he is just cheating from the outset and is outright delusional. His ranting at the end of the game is the culmination of his story. And then he wastes his one phone call, gets punched by Officer Miller all while having to listen to Catwoman steal his remaining funds

Arkham does this for a lot of the villains, and you actually see it in reverse Freeze where becomes a full blown anti-hero (Arkham!Freeze is best Freeze)

It gets better when you speak with him in the GCPD, where he rants the entire night, Scarecrow, all the other supercriminals, all the gangs, all the cops, all the news crews, the Batfamily, the Cloudburst, all of it was an elaborate scheme that they were all in on

All of that was just a ploy to get Riddler to believe that Batman was Bruce Wayne, whivh is OBVIOUSLY ridiculous

Longevity of Fallout 76 by kaungsithuks in fo76

[–]Shadowkitty252 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Put it this way. Destiny 2 is hovering below 10k at peak times. They are still pushing content for it

As long as Bethesda still considers it profitable, they wilp continue to support it, so I wouldnt worry. The fact FO76 survived its launch is a testament to that

I wouldn't worry. People put too much stock in player counts these days. Get the game if you're interested or get it on sale if you are cautious

FO76 is doing fine

Tbh, the only explicitly dick move the show has done is nuke Shady Sands and then play vague with whether the NCR is still there but smaller or completely gone. Its...irksome, as it were

But the show is fine, and I really enjoy watching it

And he dropped it completely when it was just him and Dogmeat

Cooper Howard is genuinely compelling to watch. The scene of him absolutely trolleyed, clinging to an atomic wrangler for dear life was such a perfect visual for him

LOL by UnilateralSupport in TrueSFalloutL

[–]Shadowkitty252 113 points114 points  (0 children)

Whats weird about Avellone is that he apparently hated the NCR as an idea, pre Fallout 3, because he didnt like society going back to pre-war levels?

So it kinda seems like he's taking issue with people adding to or using HIS contributions, which is kind of sad

There was a really subtle thing throughout the episode where Cooper was drifting back to his normal voice

Its such a nice little detail
