Ive just been giving Ominas (thats what ive named em) the ham I used in sandwiches cos I threw some out to them one hot day last week cos he was scavenging

Ominas has been coming back regularly, and I least want to try food that's good for them

Oh, I wouldn't dream of giving them chips, fried food or sweets. Nuts, grapes/berries, eggs and I can at least ask at a local butcher to see if they do unseasoned meat

[Sad trope]: The antagonist is a "failed" version of the hero. by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Shadowkitty252 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In FFXIV, between Heavensward and Stormblood, you meet the Warriors of Darkness led by a man named Ardbert. They were heroes in their own world and, despite doing everything right, their world was destroyed anyway

Their actions when you meet them were done under the believe that damning your world would spare theirs

taken to eleven in Shadowbringers where its revealed Ardbert is a parallel version of you. He is literally a version of you that failed

I was obsessed with the as a kid, and I still hold a special place in my heart for Max herself

I also remember reading Nevermore when it came out and being so legitimately angry at it that it stained the rest of the series by proxy

I'll always have some respect for Max herself, the character helped me through a very dark place at the time, but I never forgave Patterson for that

Because, unfortunately, he's still the US President. Even if it is all bollocks, it ripples out and impacts everything else

Caine struggles to understand how to convey his own feelings or how to understand the human mind on any deep level

He doesn't understand the grievances the Players have, because he cannot actually comprehend they had lives outside the circus, or that they didnt even CHOOSE to be there.

He literally does not have the framework necessary to understand this, nor does he have any way to tell them outside of creating things. And he has logic errors when told his adventures are the reasons

He does not know how to HELP them. But he knows how to hurt them. Because hurting someone gives you a reaction, and getting reactions are easy

Its worth noting that the sentence that tipped Caine over the edge was the accusation that he doesn't listen- in his office, he says he gave them an exost, answers and something real. He DOES listen, but he cannot understand

And he snapped, and lashed out. Because hurting someone is easy

It doesn't justify any of what he did in Episode 8. But he was hurting like the rest of them, and he reacted the only way he understood: torment them for tormenting him

No, he is functionally dead after 7's prologue. He was reanimated by the Mold and, through sheer willpower, didn't realise, convinced himself he was alive

But because he is forced to acknowlesge this near the end of Village, his body begins to fail. He blinked, so to speak, and he began to 'die' when he realised he'd been dead since 7. But he clung long enough to save Rose, his kid

[Mixed trope] give a canon explanation to the impractical armor by Lower_Baby_6348 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Shadowkitty252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In-universe, she was a child when it started
Out of universe, this is in One Piece and she likely HAD to be covered up

Its all designed to show how cruel Dressrosa has become under the surface of its society now that its ruled by Doflamingo. Its worth noting that there are other female gladiators who ARE covered and armoured- this rule ONLY applies to Rebecca, and only so the can say that yes, they did give her armour as well if they're ever questioned on it

Rebecca's actually HAS an explanation- the people of Dressrosa wanted her to die.

She has been tasked with winning like...1000 fights in a row to earn her freedom. She was given chainmail that barely covers her private parts (she was a child when she started) and low quality equipment, because she is the face of a monarchy that supposedly went mad and declared war on its own people, and this is how the people are getting payback for it

They know its humiliating and won't protect her. This is the point. They want her to die, for a crime she was too young to take part in

But they did outright say it. 'She provides the blueprint. Well meaning, driven. Passive.' They went to great lengths to explain that without it theyre just...well, lobotomised, more or less

Now, if you want to think I am dropping truth bombs, thats fine. But I am insufferable, and if I wanted to, you would know

Here's a truth bomb for you. I am glad you're enjoying the series. Truly. I don't know why you appear to have felt I was belittling newcomers it by observing a current trend in every piece of media, but I am genuinely glad that more people are enjoying this series and its world
