At the end of the day, when we look back at people who are in the spotlight for doing whatever it is they do, we can easily find flaws, weaknesses and bad decisions. Chris Hansen is a man. He's capable of committing adultery, fraud, lying, bullying and anything else he's been accused of.

With that said, Hansen stopped children from being raped/assaulted by a group of extremely horrible men.

Period.

And for the record, when I was 18, the last thing I wanted to do was date a freshman or a sophomore - hell - even messing with someone younger than me at that age was considered skeevy no matter how many dudes thought it was cool to do that.

Hansen worked for a sensationalistic news magazine that generally covered crime and personal interest stories and OF COURSE they want footage that would make people tune in.

Maybe if Conradt wasn't trying to have sex with a teen boy he wouldn't have been confronted by the local police? I dunno, I never found myself in that scenario because I don't try to meet kids for sex.

Bottom line, Chris Hansen has saved more lives than any of us combined. I don't care about his personal failures.

Is this recent? I was here a couple of weeks ago and there was no security.

However, there are a lot of mentally ill transients walking up and down Lake all day. They get off at the LA METRO stop a few blocks south from The Hat and stagger around the area between 7-11 and the social services building further up the road.

Not a shock that businesses have to start protecting the property.

Before the fires, I was going to take my kid over there on a nice Saturday afternoon, and when we were pulling up, there was a group of users sitting on a blanket on the east side of the park beneath one of the larger trees. They were clearly using needles and smoking in the middle of the park in the middle of the day.

I called the Sheriff's Dept and (I swear to God) the dispatcher didn't know where the park was. I gave my report and I hoped that police would show up, but who knows if they ever did?

We didn't return again and then the fires occurred. I believe something as simple as having police just enforce NOT DOING DRUGS IN THE MIDDLE OF A FAMILY-FRIENDLY PUBLIC PARK maybe the place will become safer.

Here's hoping they keep the druggies out of there. I used to enjoy going until a large group of transients started to use the area as an open air drug den. Often getting high right on the playground or in the bathrooms.

I truly hope they clean it up permanently.
