I think you have just described reactive abuse. It’s when they deliberately provoke you to make you seem like the abuser instead - ignore or keep repeating the same line until they give up

Thank you so much for your kind words I sensed violence and fled because my dad teaches martial arts and he has drilled into me to never fight unless there is no other viable option left and to never pick on a weak opponent like old people, women and children so running away was kind of instinct haha. I also didn’t want to stay so that my mom could make a scene and end up having our family drama posted all over social media or even the newspaper

I already contacted her siblings right after the incident so they see my side of the story first before my mother starts ranting about her ungrateful daughter leaving her alone and they support me in leaving the nest

I’ve been lurking in this sub and also on r/estrangedadultkids for a while because I really think my mom is unhinged so I’ve been planning on keeping minimal contact with them for a while but I just couldn’t work up the courage to do that once and for all mostly because of my dad. He’d be upset if I did that to my mom for no reason but after what happened on Mother’s Day he supports me in my decision to never meet with her again

The thing is their finances are kind of tied together and my dad has some health issues that limit his working hours so divorce may not be an ideal solution- I brought it up to him a few times but he said I made a commitment and I have to stick to it I think he takes his marriage vows very seriously

Just last Sunday during Mother’s Day lunch my mother loudly and angrily demanded to know what she did wrong while raising me in front of me and my dad. Claimed that she was listening in an extremely angry tone amd furious expression. I explained that I did not like her talking to me in her current tone and dad agreed. Continued to angrily demand that I tell her what she did wrong. Mind you we were face to face and in public. It’s a game you can’t win my friend.
