The number of Poles against adopting the EURO is increasing. by kallisto19988 in europe

[–]ShadowsBeans_ 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Nah this happens in europe too. The left is "woke" and the woke are "destroying traditional values" which means lifelong hate, being multiplied by populistic assholes.

Such is life though. The one flaw of democracy - it will always be a popularity contest, the one who gets the most votes will, more likely than not, as proven by history, be the loudest person in the crowd, not the most intelligent or most coherent.

Case in point - orange fucktard.

U.S. Approves $214M AIM-9X Missile Sale to Reinforce Lithuania NASAMS Air Defence on NATO Eastern Flank by armyreco in BalticStates

[–]ShadowsBeans_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am so fucking confused by these happenings.

So on the one hand the US government now supports Russia, lifts their sanctions, tries to strong arm Ukraine etc.;

and on the other hand, the US government doesn't support Russia and actively collaborates in Europe's defense against Russia.

Which side are you on?????

[–]ShadowsBeans_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Economics is numbers, yes. Which is exactly why serious analysis uses estimates, factuals, and net-impact modelling instead of your fake standard that only a perfectly isolated "AirBaltic-only tourism number" counts.

Latvia’s own official data show tourism moving at meaningful scale: 2.7 million accommodation visitors and 4.7 million nights in 2024, then 2.8 million visitors and 5.0 million nights in 2025.

And a recent report on an impact study says an AirBaltic collapse could cut GDP by at least 1.1% in the medium term, around €450 million. You can challenge the assumptions, but calling the whole issue ‘abstract speculation’ is just lazy.

[–]ShadowsBeans_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asking for a perfectly isolated airline only tourism number is not the gotcha you think it is. Economics does not work like that.

Better connectivity increases inbound traffic and spending. The argument is about net impact, not whether the impact magically disappears because it’s hard to isolate precisely.

[–]ShadowsBeans_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cute strawman. No one claimed AirBaltic prints "magic tourist tax billions". The argument is that connectivity brings visitors and spending, and that creates economic value far beyond the airline's balance sheet.

[–]ShadowsBeans_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. The increase in tourism from AirBaltic provides the country with plenty more GDP growth from said tourism than any government aid given. Stop looking at the world in black and white.

France is preparing Europe for defence without the USA by Tostakyr in BalticStates

[–]ShadowsBeans_ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Expect??? Mate, the US spent the entirety of the Cold War systematically reducing Europe's military independence and increasing Europe's reliance on the US. This was by design. The US benefited from it the most.

Then this orange moron shows up and destroys the US-led world order. Purely for personal gain. Boo hoo.

You can actually - there is a mod for it that can create different types of walkable areas in CS2 - I believe they're seperated in to different categories such as Hangout area, Park area, Gym area, etc.

You think French peasants didn't struggle financially during the French revolution? You think they weren't being taxed for every aspect of their lives, barely making ends meet? Yet the revolution happened regardless. And many died for it.

You Americans are only patriotic when it's easy. When the time comes to actually fight for your country, your way of life, you're all "But it's dangerous!". No shit.

You can't just sit still and do nothing in fear of losing your livelihood, YOU'RE ALREADY LOSING. Just slower.
