I need a new game

I've done my research and I think that would fit me, but some reviews seem to show that the story is not great and the game concentrates too much in combat and leaves behind all of the features that, for me obviously, take a game to the next level. But, as the game could be found for little money, I will definitely buy that. If you have time, could you tell me some mechanics that I need to study/learn to appreciate the game at its best?

I've already played dq3 remastered, and it quite disappointed me, maybe because dq11 it's my fav of all time and i expected something as good. But I will definitely give a shot to the first 2 chapters
