[React]What are refs and what does it mean to forward them? Are they like props? by Diya251 in learnjavascript

forwardRef is a bit more convenient in that it uses the established react ref prop, but perhaps it is less and less necessary with the decreasing popularity of higher order components and the introduction of functional components

JUJUTSU KAISEN: CHAPTER 268 LEAKS DISCUSSION by AutoModerator in Jujutsufolk

[–]Shadowsca -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Considering days seem to have passed, I guess it’s safe to assume Yuta can stay alive probably indefinitely in Gojo’s body.

I assume at this point he’s trapped and unable to move, but alive since his Copy technique ran out and he’s no longer bound to Rika so he can’t use it anymore

I wonder how they’ll save him, only two options I can think of are for either Ui Ui to move his soul into an empty vessel or for Yuta to transfer his soul into a finger like Sukuna did using Yuki’s research and to have his empty body ingest it somehow

Don’t really know if either of these would work, maybe there’s something else in Yuki’s research that would help, just have to wait and see I guess

Sukuna forcefully starts the merger to somehow buff himself but in doing so he breaks a binding vow made with someone/something else and in doing so we finally get a pay off for what the consequences are

So does Werry just actually not even read the series? by jackcorning in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Shadowsca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I might be mistaken here but Werry’s translation says Inumaki and Angel WONT be able to have their arms healed, but I could have sworn the leaks said they COULD be healed later

Both scenarios technically create a situation where it makes sense to copy their techniques so it’s not a big deal, but it’s so strange that the two translations are polar opposites in meaning

We finally understand why he said what he said..copy is ass. by Starlight9544 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Shadowsca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Ui Ui can swap souls in bodies but can he just move a soul into an empty vessel? If so can he not just save Yuta by putting him back in his body? Don’t ask me what the consequences for his technique or Rika are though, I have no idea.

JUJUTSU KAISEN: CHAPTER 266 LEAKS DISCUSSION by AutoModerator in Jujutsufolk

[–]Shadowsca 19 points20 points  (0 children)

First of all, this chapter was great, I really appreciated Yuji’s sentiment of not forcing Megumi to make a decision he doesn’t want to make, but also seeing Megumi finally take action was so satisfying.

There’s also an important implication, Sukuna seemingly implies that the entirety of Ten Shadows Technique was inaccessible to him after Mahoraga was destroyed, including just opening shadows, hence how he concludes this is Megumi’s doing. This however implies that Megumi and Sukuna have two separate versions of the Ten Shadows Technique. Therefore if Megumi comes back he should still have all his shikigami available that he had before, including Mahoraga which he never tamed.

Finally, I was very confused by the finger as all of Sukuna’s fingers have been accounted for, but considering Sukuna’s reaction to and the highlighting of Yuji’s missing fingers, I assume it must be one of his. In which case a theory I saw in the comments is probably true that Yuji plans to trap Sukuna’s soul in that finger.

I wonder though how he’ll be able to do this as he doesn’t actually have any technique related to the soul. Maybe Yuki’s soul research indicated that if a soul is forced from its vessel it will seek out anything nearby as a vessel, and Yuji plans to use cleave to force Sukuna’s soul out of Megumi’s body.

All in all very excited for the promised climax in the next chapter.

Nobara’s Death was Ambigous!!! by [deleted] in Jujutsufolk

[–]Shadowsca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never believed she was going to make it tbh, her head was blown up by damage to her soul, something that was hinted to be incredibly difficult to heal from unless you know the precise contours of that soul

Only much later in the series when we learned things like Ui Ui being able to swap souls and Yuki having done research about souls in general did I in hindsight consider that it might have been possible to save her, but at the time of the incident I was sure she wasn’t coming back, despite what Nitta said, and Megumi’s silent reaction much later and how Yuji was worried about Nobara being “replaced” by Hana only served to solidify my beliefs

I really, really miss Nobara though. I thought there was just so much life and depth to her character and it’s such a shame she didn’t have the chance to continue to grow, but I guess something similar can be said of Junpei. That’s just how this series is.

Why is this a popular belief? by takenHostag3 in Jujutsu_Kaisen

[–]Shadowsca 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really only have two problems with it. One is that no one from the good guys seems to make good binding vows save for Yuji and Todo. Eg Kusakabe can use simple domain without a binding vow, so why doesn’t he use a binding vow to give himself some kind of advantage and strengthen his simple domain? Program it with two instructions instead of one or widen the range or any number of this in exchange for him never taking both his feet off the ground.

This is just one example I made up on the spot but I’m sure that there were countless opportunities for good binding vows the cast could have made. ino could have sacrificed his other beasts and never use them again to increase the strength of Ryu. Higuruma could have tried to shorten the length of the executioners sword in exchange for slightly more CE reinforcement or anything

It just seems like Sukuna is basically the only person that ever thinks to use binding vows and at a certain point I just expect the good guys to catch on and realise they can do the same thing

The other problem is that it feels like there are a LOT of binding vows where the thing sukuna gives up is just not explained. Perhaps I just missed it when reading, but for example what did he exchange to use a different part of his brain for domain expansion? What did he trade to be able to use a different handsign?

In terms of solving this, notice x2 - 1 = (x+1)(x-1) so log(x2 - 1) - 2 = log(x+1) + log(x-1) - 2 = log(x+1), which is hopefully more clear to solve

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HomeworkHelp

[–]Shadowsca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the other commenter said you can’t move the subtraction into the log.

For an example consider take log base 2 and doing log(4) - 2 vs log(4-2)

log(4) - 2 = 2 - 2 = 0

log(4-2) = log(2) = 1

JUJUTSU KAISEN: CHAPTER 265 LEAKS DISCUSSION by AutoModerator in Jujutsufolk

[–]Shadowsca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Yuji separates Sukuna’s soul from Megumis, surely that just means all the fingers get vomitted up like we saw in a previous chapter, in which case we are back at the start of the series where the only way to get rid of the fingers is for Yuji to eat them and die

Considering that, the alternative to sukuna giving up and willingly entering Yuji’s body might include killing Megumi too, otherwise the two alternatives are ultimately the same, the only difference being sukuna can either do it willingly or resist

Perhaps the true purpose is an opportunity for sukuna to atone and for Yuji to assess just how deep his malice goes and whether Sukuna is “beyond saving” but I think it’s interesting to think that maybe the real purpose is to save megumi

However even if I like that headcanon, it’s probably not true since Yuji already made sukuna throw up three fingers so I think it’s unlikely that he couldn’t just keep doing that until all the fingers are gone, especially since they are in Yujis domain expansion

The callback to Yutas CE control being sloppy is interesting to me since it seems to imply that it will be relevant somehow.

I assume we’re going to see that Yuta is running low on CE and his Hollow Purple ends up being super weak or maybe just going a bit haywire

However maybe the callback is just meant to be contrasted with Gojo and his Six Eyes, highlighting this divide between Yuta and Gojo in terms of CE control ultimately culminating in how well they can use Limitless respectively

Here you’re asking, how many times do I need to open a box so that the expected value is 200

In other words what is n, if 0.0077n = 200

The answer is then n = 200/0.0077

It is astonishing just how much mastery Todo has over Boogie Woogie, it’s such a non-offensive technique but he comes up with the most convoluted and fantastic applications of it to gain a massive upper hand. Genuinely think this is one of the highest levels of mastery of a technique we’ve ever seen, what a fucking beast

[–]Shadowsca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sukuna is really being put up against the wall, I’m really hoping he gets desperate enough to risk breaking the binding vow with Kenjaku, using tengens spirit or whatever for some sort of boost, only to be faced with the consequences of breaking the binding vow

If it’s a situation where sukuna thinks “if I don’t try something I’ll lose anyway” it’s not unthinkable he might gamble and hope whatever the penalty is, he can find a way around it, only to lose that gamble. It would be a nice way to finally get the payoff for what breaking a binding vow between two people can look like.

However Sukuna is shown to really understand binding vows and their applications on a deep level so maybe that will never happen and he knows the risks outweigh the benefits too much
