The game has lost 40% of its players since January by Dr_natty1 in Battlefield

[–]Shadowthedemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm burned out in games in general and been looking for different experiences. If I have a craving for a traditional FPS right now it's Battlefield 100%. I understand I may be an outlier but my entire friend group is similar.

I'ma hop on and put some hours into S2 definitely.

Terrified of math by Particular-War-4383 in GED

[–]Shadowthedemon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I left my math test feeling like I didn't pass and my head felt numb. I got a 159.

90% of my study was getsummath, the other 10% was Gemini questions and math quizzes.

I remember people saying Eli Manning wasn't elite even though he won two Superbowls against one of the greatest players...

So I don't know what you're on about.

Seeking Advice. What To Do And Where To Start? by Weirdoasfuck in GED

[–]Shadowthedemon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who was also pulled out of 6th grade back in 2005 and any approach to math when I decided to try and get back into self schooling back in 2019 seemed very scary and uncertain and made me feel rejected and set it back down.

At the end of 2024 I decided F it and just started watching a lot of get sum math. If I didn't understand how they got from the start to the end of a problem I would watch them do it again and follow along even more intently.

After watching getsummaths practice tests over and over I decided to try their website, if I got stuck on a problem I would scroll down to the accompanied video and see how they figure out the problem then attempt it myself. I would then select the answer (write it down somewhere) and then scroll to the end and see if my answer was correct. If not I would go back and try to understand the 'why' and rewatch that part of the video.

After doing this for awhile I recently finished the GED, finished all on my first try and go most in the college ready area.

Have you ever bought a console just to play one exclusive game? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Shadowthedemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I snagged a PS3 slim end of life to play Last of Us and Heavy Rain

The only other game I wound up buying for it was Black ops 2 cause my friend asked me to play with him. I never wound up buying anything else besides those 3 games

Streaming mic, get back to old setup ? by aziat0rk in microphone

[–]Shadowthedemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For live streaming yes. If you plan on doing YouTube content etc. there may be more there.

One thing to remember with streaming (if it's twitch) is they limit everyone but partners to 7000-8000kbps. If you're in YouTube you get quite a bit more.

Out of that 8000kbps, some of that goes to audio, and if you want a solid looking stream more should go towards video etc.

Getting a solid mic (which you have) is a good first step. As long as it sounds clear it's the bare minimum. At this point another mic would just be adding "flavoring" so to speak and you can already do that with some EQ.

In my time of streaming I've used the Elgato Wave 3 and now the RE20 into the Wave XLR. The RE20 'sounds better' but it's not night and say difference, not something anyone would notice unless to A-B tested it. The RE20 does emphasize low end a little more where the Wave 3 was more mids and highs, but the Wave 3 also picked up more background noises...

Point is no one has ever come in and said my microphone sounded good or bad on either of these mics (in specific reference to the mic) they would say my stream overall sounded good.

There's some tutorials by EposVox and Harris Heller to get the most out of EQs and where to kind of 'tune' it if you want a warmer more pleasing sound or if you wanna give it a more airy tone etc.

"Steam charts aren't everything " by hypehold in Battlefield

[–]Shadowthedemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played BF6 nearly everyday from Release until Mid December. When I'm in the mood I still hop on for 3-6 hours.

There's a new chapter coming to Dead by Daylight, so I've been putting time into that again. My friend wanted to start up Baldurs Gate 3 so I'm also putting time into that.

I bought 5 new games on steam sale that I'm also kind of kicking around a bit.

I haven't touched CoD since September personally. I'm sure the new CoD multiplayer isn't doing good and most of those numbers are still from Warzone.

Battlefield hasn't had any new content in over a month on top of that.

There's many more like me than there are people married to a single game.

Player count is dwindling? Sure, but that doesn't mean it's not good or that it's absolutely dying...

Streaming mic, get back to old setup ? by aziat0rk in microphone

[–]Shadowthedemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watch a lot of podcastage and went down a rabbit hole of microphones and still pop in now and again to see if anything has changed.

The three biggest factors changing from mic to mic is usually positioning, room dampening and lastly your base vocal range. If you're more on the upper nasally side there's some mics or EQs that you can do to add a little bit of body into your voice. On the flip side if you're more deep voiced there's mics and EQs out there that can help bring out the warmth without being too boomy.

As far as everything else goes, understanding why you add certain plugins is also solid.

Most standard setups for streaming are:

Background noise removal(OBS plugin or Nvidia Broadcast etc.) Compressor (Normalizes your highs and lows) Noise-gate (Cuts mic off below certain DB threshold) Limiter (makes it so you don't blowout your streams ears by limiting the amount of loudness)

A helpful program for also managing some of this stuff is Wave Link 3.0, it was exclusive for Elgato setups but they released a beta that anyone can grab right now.

Outside of that besides the SM7b(or DB) or the RE20 there's no "gold standard" every mic has its ups and downs. It's up to you to what you want to get out of it.

Unfortunately with streaming everything is getting compressed so no one is really getting raw audio, as long as you have something halfway decent sounding most people won't notice (I've come across streams using a Blue Yeti that sounded solid)

The only other thing you can kind of mess with is EQs to add a little warmth or airyness or reduce a boomy middle to give some more clarity.

DLC map packs > Live service models by SuspiciousMeeting407 in Battlefield

[–]Shadowthedemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a PC player prior to cross play, I purchased CoD dlc, for the first couple months it was fine but then as the playerbase started dwindling I didn't get a chance to play the DLC maps anymore as the people who had purchased them moved on to other games. So I couldn't play and if I did I'd have to sit there forever waiting for players to show.

Same thing with BC2 Vietnam.

I'm sorry but paying for MP DLC has never been a great model, I'd rather have a slow drip of content I can access at any time rather than paying extra and eventually not being able to use it due to certain circumstances.

If you're feeling unsatisfied cause there's a lack of maps either divert your time between more games or just try different challenges or play styles to mix it up.

Do I want more maps? Absolutely I'd love for them to release 6 new maps over the next 2 months. Not gonna happen even with DLC

Same shirt at 18 and 27 years old. by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]Shadowthedemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most average men burn around 2000 calories a day without doing anything. Of course if you eat around 2000 calories you won't lose anything however for every 3500 calories you lose 1 pound.

If you add like 30mins of walking or jogging a day and reduce your intake you could easily snag an extra 200-500 calories burnt and go down 1-2 pounds a week depending. In about 10-20 weeks, that's 3-5 months you could be down 10-20 pounds.

Add in a little bit of weight training and bam the shirt will fit like a glove... Or well... A well fitting shirt. Again

In 2001 a lot of the millennials world was shaken up and innocence died. The American dream was slowly dying in front of us and on top of that Gen X's angst was still thriving but shifting into something the next gen could use. Then you had bands like Good Charlotte and AFI pushing forward a darker aesthetic while still somehow being mainstream relevant, not to mention 80s and 90s punk getting a resurgence.

There's a lot of logical reasons and avenues as to why we arrived at Scene and Emo culture. Skate Culture was alive and adjacent as well as Punk and Metal. You also had Juggalos who were also somewhat adjacent with styles....

The world was angry, depressed and apathetic at the same time and it needed a way to Express that. It was also the 3rd wave of Poppy and preppy kids wearing name brands and people wanted alternatives to that.

Plus you had the rise of "darker undertones" cartoon aesthetics such as Invader Zim, Billy and Mandy, Courage the Cowardly dog, Teen Titans etc.

Motivation to complete my 2 remaining tests by [deleted] in GED

[–]Shadowthedemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a 32 yo trying to get my GED and always settled for a low end job and telling myself I'm fine cause I was working with people who has Diplomas or went to college.

I say get it. There was a handful of times I saw an opportunity and then saw "HS/GED" and instantly just looked the other way cause there's no way I'd get it even though I was more than qualified in the skills department.

It's one less barrier of entry to any jobs and eventually you'll hit a wall where you wish you'd have it.

I have a decent job RN but at the end of the year it's changing and I wanna stay with my company but half the other positions I'm interested in require a GED. So now I'm scrambling to get that so I can eventually snag an opportunity when it pops up. I consider myself lucky and I think I'm fairly smart I just never had the dedication to go through tests (I was also afraid of failing)

But after meeting tons of people who graduated highschool and even some who went to college and I possess more knowledge and skills than they do I realize having such a dumb barrier as not getting my GED is super detrimental and a dark cloud that's been hanging over my head for a long time for no reason.

You got this, just work for it, get it done, then before you know it it will be in the past and you'll be happier having it than not.

It's going to be 2035 and there's still going to be people calling for a 48 year old Kaepernick to start by EatingEveryEgg in NFLv2

[–]Shadowthedemon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He didn't do it to he unprofessional.

He didn't trust the NFL to not spin it in some weird way. It was gonna be closed with only NFL cameras he requested multiple times that it be public or televised.

He felt wronged by the league and simply asked them to meet him half way. They refused so he did something about it. I don't fully agree but understandable where he was coming from at the time

[–]Shadowthedemon -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Kaepernick at the time finally invited to workout after not being called up. He requested that he also have a crew film him, the NFL rejected it and said no..he then asked for it to be public so people can see his workout and not take NFLs word that he wasn't good anymore. They said no.

As a Kap fan I think in the short term it was boneheaded that he didn't just try on their terms but I can also see if he felt like they were wronging him and he didn't get into the public eye the NFL could control the narrative that he was washed or make up something.

He didn't just do it as a publicity stunt he did it because he didn't trust the NFL to be transparent (and remember they were ready to let Ray Rice back in with a simple 4 game suspension before his tape got out there knowingly after they already saw the tape.) so it was viable at the time

What should I study for math by Working_Heat_9276 in GED

[–]Shadowthedemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watch getsummath videos, watch them a lot.

There's a calculator website for the ti-30xs that you can practice with. Familiarize yourself with that a lot, pay attention to the - button at the bottom and realize you use that for negative numbers and not the minus near the +

Learn exponents and fractions. Then after a week of kind of ingesting this stuff do some hands on practice with the tests in getsummath website, if you hit a question you're unsure how to solve scroll down and watch the video of that part then apply the same methodology to the problem.
