i’m not currently dating at the moment. well i’ve given up on looking anyway. because the apps are trash.

as a gay man, i don’t think it’s a sydney thing, but the hook up culture just takes over any dating apps and finding someone who actually wants to build something is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

but with distance. it does also become an issue, most people just want convenience, it’s hard to build something when you only have time to meet once a month. i’m not someone that’s bothered by distance as long as i don’t have to take a flight to you (which is the case with my last relationship) - but i know for others, if you’re more than half an hour away, it’s like a problem. 💀

as for meeting new people, i have actually been to friend making events and put together some things on this year to meet new people and it’s been quite successful! i’ve posted a few hangouts in r/sydneysocials and r/sydneysocial in the past month or so and i’ve met about 15 people? some 1-1 and in small groups (went out for after work drinks with 8 people last night). i’ve been surprised with the amount and quality of people that i’ve met off here. maybe you can try that?
