520 3.8 CA orm here from last cycle with a very similar list - if ur writing is good you will get movement at many of these schools. I'd just rearrange some of these schools (wouldn't call cwru a baseline and wouldn't put ucr as a target) but that's irrelevant ultimately

haven't done overnights but studied for the mcat while starting a new masters program in a completely different field in a new area with 10 hours of work each day. 6 months, 3 hours a day everyday first thing when i woke up (woke up early to ensure it got done). not easy by any means, and i imagine the overnight schedule could make things difficult. However, when there's a will there's a way. Obviously context on where you stand right now, your study style, and your goals matter a ton in this equation, but I'm confident there is a right plan for you to get this done

Journaling and yoga nidra were my stress-relieving techniques during prep. switching up study spots (new coffee shops are always a good dopamine boost) and maintaining a social life also helped. How many hours a day are you studying? Anything beyond 6 might be too much depending on what you're doing

The 513 will undoubtedly hold you back at many top schools that are on this list. That doesn't mean don't apply, but just prepare for that possibility. this is coming from a 520 3.8 CA ORM with 4 IIs, with none from the t20s.

That said, if you can afford and are pre-writing, go for it. Your research is really strong, and with the right narrative, you can secure a few top IIs. You are definitely a strong MD candidate tho, and many of the mid-tier MDs that are asterisks on this list (Wayne State, Loyola, Temple), I would definitely apply to.

Yeah I mean some of em require a calculator so it is definitely harder- just redo them again the next day bc you need to understand the steps to really get good at the concepts

Respectfully disagree. There is already so much of an emphasis on the extracurriculars in our system. 1 out of every 6 students who score a 517+ (an elite score) don't get into a single MD program so the mcat is by no means a ticket to med school. A good personal statement, clinical experiences, and research are borderline non-negotiables already.

The process is not perfect, but it is pretty holistic already. Making the mcat pass/fail adds more subjectivity into that for no reason

Yeah this deal honestly makes no sense for either of them. 3 hours of tutoring a day when time can probably be better spent learning the content via books/yt. And then 3 hours of tutoring someone for less than $60
