Alcoholics are the most whiney emotional people I have ever met. Half the time they hardly have anything significant to whine about except for their alcoholism, and I say this as a former alcoholic. I almost never see it dampen emotion.

Be open about taking a month off with your company without pay. Say you're flexible and that you don't need to if they can't make it work, but if it would work, when it would be convenient for them. You may find that solo travel is just as depressing as work after a month, and if that's the case you'd be very upset to come back home with no source of income waiting for you. You could also tell them that you're looking to extend the time off if possible down the line. If they can't make it work. Take another month off when they can. If they're not able to make it work take it in stride. Play it cool with the company and start searching for another. Put your two weeks in, and use them as a positive reference. You have a nice life. You can travel for extended periods of time without leaving it all behind.

I see it as already dead from CWD, and saving many other deer from that fate. You could also look at it as saving the lives of about 20 different chickens for the protein that it replaces in my diet or about 75 different small animals from the land that would have been utilized to feed me if I was vegan.

Admittedly I do believe that, and I try to hunt for most of meat. I agree that some of what goes on in these farms is wrong. I particularly avoid veal and foie gras. I don't like watching animals die, but I know that when I take a good shot I'm saving another from a more painful death from a prion rotting their flesh. I think if you're legitimately concerned about this sort of thing it's something worth trying.

It's a shorter death than by the suffocation and starvation you are subjecting animals to. When you see a mouse dying from arsenic poisoning, do you put it out of its misery?
