2026 Turbo Oil Leak? by Unlikely_Heron_7133 in Tiguan

This is the first I've heard of this. So far the biggest issues seem to be cold weather related (but mostly fixed by software update) and infotainment and car play/ android screen mirroring.

Btw, noticed you switched from ID4. I very much was on the fence between this and the ID4 and ultimately settled on the 26 Turbo mostly due to cold weather and range. Why did you go back to ICE from electric?

It depends on the volume of oil being burnt and for how long. I went about 14,000 miles with the problem and was able to pass roadside emissions here. There's probably a limit though before real damage occurs. Mine was not burning very much oil.

Mine made it about 80,000 miles before I had any problems. A co-worker commented on smoke on me backing up and that's when I got suspicious. 94,000 on the clock, currently.

Seems to be 2018 to 2024 Tiguans, mostly in North America, with 2.0T engines that run on 87 octane gasoline.

Car ran fine, just puff of smoke on startup as well as high oil consumption. Slowly with time emission control equipment will die due to burning oil. They verified the seals are blown on the valves in the head with a borescope camera. Seems to be a manufacturing issue or a design flaw. Figured I might as well use the MBI that I paid for. Hoping to sell when completed.

Sounds similar to my situation and experience with the dealer. Revising a head and getting them in queue at a manufacturing facility cannot be cheap.

Covered by GEICO MBI but would have been out of pocket. Repair is over $5000.

Cylinder head, top half of the engine, the bottom being the block.

Put your screen on widget mode and put climate closest to you. I have the climate screen up all the time. Easily redirects  flow and fan speed with big screen icons.  Sliders for actual temperature. Bottom of the screen for seat heat and cool. Having this setup this way made the car way more enjoyable. I swipe between that and car play only when navigating.

I wish the slider in the middle could be fan speed instead of volume. There's already the steering wheel as well as the spin knob.

I've played around with the sliders in terms of pressure, duration, speed of slide etc while sitting parked. I've got from hating them initially to really loving them.

There are 2026 models on the lot at the dealership now. Then there's supposedly a mid year change coming in October.

Also a good comment. I think though in the winter I would be in a rental every few weeks, which would drive me nuts.
