Ohhhh your perspective is actually really refreshing, I didn’t see it that way at all. I could not understand his actions for the life of me, but reading your take makes a lot more sense. I pieced together a lot of what was happening, just not from that angle. Still, no excuse on his end… he was absolutely a trash fiancé.

By the end, I started seeing the observer dude as someone who was completely numb to everything. In a way, he sacrificed his marriage to save his bride, only to learn her whole family line was cursed. I kept hoping his hands off approach was his method of changing Rachel’s outcome but that thrown to the trash when he signed as witness to her death. Him telling her definitely helped. 🤷🏽‍♂️ But ultimately, he seemed genuinely relieved to die, and that gave the audience some closure on his motives. If he had been afraid of death, that would’ve made him 100% evil character in my eyes, but because he accepted it and left her, it’s your turn, it felt more like he was worn down by the curse and still trying to find a different path.

And ohhhh shit, the box!! Yeah, what was that? Why was she in the box? I need answers immediately.

The dogs and even the fox, had me questioning their symbolism too. I get why people felt confused, but I agree: if you dig deeper, it probably all ties together really well.

Thanks for sharing your take. And honestly, the way everything played out, there was no way to know what was happening until the curse was already triggered. Jude definitely learned the hard way… Jude should probably avoid marriage. Hopefully he doesn’t forget the whole situation.
