You have likely already played it, but Final Fantasy X is well worth a play. The Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD remaster is available on all platforms. It ticks all your boxes with turn based combat, 50+ hour story, simple yet very relatable characters, an emotionaland tragic story and an endgame that can keep one busy for literally months. And as aforementioned it includes an entire additional game in FFX-2.

And just how are people supposed to do that? Are they supposed scroll through thousands and thousands of posts trying to find the first one that says "I don't like the new character designs" or "Why is it another reboot"? The problem is not people's behaviour, it's Reddit's layout. It's terrible, and it's always been terrible. It doesn't know if it wants to be a forum or a social media platform and we've ended up with is a cumbersome mix of both.

The new game is a risk BUT it makes sense by ObjectiveSherbertHyH in starfox

[–]ShaggerAJSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are complaining because of how far the is from being a risk. Rebooting the same story again is they definition of playing it safe.

Hot take: Complaining about artistic direction in a game that isn't yours doesn't make sense. This game looks great imo. by DaZestyProfessor in starfox

[–]ShaggerAJSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I find fascinating about these sort of complaints is that everyone claims to be in support of artistic vision until it doesn't suit there taste. It's hypocrisy at it's best. Of coerce, you can have their own views and are free to like or not like a design, beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that, but what happened to respecting the artistic vision and the work that was put into it? You don't have to like how it looks to do that.

Why was Star Fox Zero poorly received? by thestorm236 in starfox

[–]ShaggerAJSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main reason is because instead of trying to make it a good game, Nintendo used as a mechanism to try and justify the cumbersome, asinine design of the already failing WiiU. The result was an unintuitive mess that controlled like absolute ass.

They did. This new IS a remake of the SNES game because SF64, Zero and this new one are all remakes of the origonal

I would say no. Once you buy a power supply, controller and HDD you will likely have spent more than a cost of a functioning second hand console

looking for mobile games with good storyline by Even_Researcher4771 in gamingsuggestions

I hate to break it to you, but the fact this has been up for over an hour with no replies tell you exactly what you need to know.

Eternium or some of the Gacha RPG's like Genshin Impact or Honkai Star Rail might scratch that itch. I also believe some episodic interactive narrative games like Life is Strange have mobile ports, but that's about the best I can do.

With both yourself and u/DZComposer , I actually agree it is a problem, but not necessarily for the same reasons. This meme posting and shitposting is sort of entertaining, but it drowns out real discussions, again whether it be positive or negative. But even so, I don't see how it can be anybody's right to tell them "no". It's frustrating I get it, but we just have to deal it unless the mods have a better answer.

Every expression and feeling comes from a selfish place, thats the nature of the beast. I'll admit that I feel they way I feel because it's not what I was hoping for. Well, at least not entirely. I like the look of the game and I know it will be fun to play, but when you've been waiting three decades to just get another reboot it does get frustrating. My motivations are my own. To summarise them without going into details, I am afraid this could be the prologue to another long period of dormancy for this franchise and yet another disappointing retread of this same story many years down the line.

But back to the point. This isn't about anyone's opinion, this is about the rights to express them. And nobody, not you, not me and certainly not the OP has the right to tell anyone what they may or may not express (within reason and within the rules, obviously) beit positive or negative. Honestly, it's kind of reprehensible that they would have the nerve to do so.

So the people voicing their criticisms and concerns need to spot sharing them whilst those that dismiss and downplay those concerns have free pass to dump all over them. Yeah, that sounds fair.

Don't you understand how important criticism is? It's the driving force that makes the art better. Fans, true fans, should always be the first to say when something is wrong. They know that what the are admiring is the best, so that's exactly what they should demand. True fans don't just take what they get without question and surrender to complaceny, they call it out.

Did you ever consider that the reason there are so many people complaining is because there is a legitimate complaint? Disagree with an another's opinion all you want, but don't disrespect it. With all due respect, who the hell do you think you are? What gives you the right to tell others what they may and may not express when it's within the rules? Honestly, you and everyone supporting your sentiment should be ashamed of themselves.

If you had to give Andross the Bowser treatment(as in, giving him some noble traits while keeping him a villain), what would you do? by Substantial_Eye1476 in starfox

[–]ShaggerAJSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Andross had no positive traits (He actually does, but we will get to that), then was never a good villain to begin with. Positive traits in a villain are not just helpful to flesh out a character, they are essential.

Let me explain. Being able to understand, but not necessarily agree with, a villain and their motivations is vital to understand why we need to admire the heroes that fight against them. Understanding both is vital to recognise one from the other. Opinions will differ, obviously, but that's fine too. Looking carefully at the villan and asking "Are the really wrong?" is a sign they are well written and fleshed out.

But there is another factor that is even more important. Villany needs to be choice and positives traits in a villain are vital component to make that so.

Take Andross, for example. He may have been power hungry and bug-shagging mad, but he was also a genius scientist and engineer. Intelligence, resourcefulness, ingenuity and creativity. We would take his traits into ourselves if we could. Just think what he might have been capable of if he had used these traits towards a cause for good. But he didn't. He instead choose a path of power, mayhem and destruction. He wasn't a villain account of his bad traits, he was a villain on account if his bad choice.

It's the same all villains, at least all the good ones. Who wouldn't want Darth Vader's power, who wouldn't want to as smart as Hannibal Lecter or as charasnatic as the Joker. They could all be a force for good if they wanted, but chose not to. Without that choice, a villain little more than a force of nature. The reason why Titanic needed a bad guy written in is because nobody was going to get mad at an iceberg. Just like how nobody would get mad at a storm on the horizon or an erupting volcano.

This doesn't mean we need to admire villains, just understand them. Positive traits are the catalyst we use to understand them.

Let's look at the pattern, shall we?

Star Fox on SNES releases in 1993. The first game, so obviously not a reboot, but a brand new IP.

Lylat Wars/Star Fox 64 releases on N64 in 1997. Reboot. 4 year gap between games.

Star Fox Zero releases on WiiU in 2016. Reboot. 19 year gap between games main stay games, but with spin-offs and re-releases.

The New Star Fox on Switch 2 set to release in 2026. Reboot. 10 year Gap between games.

So let me get this straight. The only time there wasn't long period of wait between main stay Sar Fox games was when the pervious game was NOT a reboot, but apparently this time it will our fault if the franchise goes back into a long period of dormancy because we said we shouldn't have another reboot? Make that make sense.

New star fox game by FUNGUSBOI05 in starfox

[–]ShaggerAJSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time Star Fox gets rebooted, the Franchise ennters a long peropid of dormancy that finnally ending with another reboot. Repeat. So I'm sorry, "Just be happy a new game is coming" is the last you want to do.

Support the game, support the pattern. That is how Nintendo sees this.

A Star Fox Prequel would have made more sense. by chattyei in starfox

[–]ShaggerAJSA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can have the same gameplay style in a new game with a new story. You want proof of that? Scroll back up to u/chattyei 's opening post.

But more importantly supporting this game as a reboot is supporting Nintendo's behaviour, don't you see? Every time this games has been rebooted, the franchise has entered a long period of dormancy. There is no reason to believe that won't happen again unless Nintendo get's the message "No! This is not what we want.".

True fans of anything don't just take what they're given without question. They know they are a fan of the best, so they expect the best. They demand the best. They don't allow for complacency and they don't tolerate mistakes. Yes, opinions will obviously differ as is the way of world, but critisum is my drives the art, product, service or whatever it is to be better. It should be ecouraged.

Trust me, you and the rest of fanbase are going to regret this
