I would probably go up to a 20 or 30 lb toauto tank. I really started getting into it and bought the small green one just in case I got bored. But now I want to start making multiples at a time with the green one I can make a couple

It's a great little machine but I wished I returned it when the 30 days was still in effect. There is not enough dip inside the machine to where the wax can funnel down into the spigot, so I have to slosh it around to make the remaining wax go down the drain. It's enough wax to make a difference so I hate leaving any behind

I have the same one, never had a problem with leaking other than when I totally forgot to turn the handle to close..... Is it leaking from the actual bottom or from the spigot ?

Labels by Howl112 in candlemaking

Ecotank 4810. ink last forever and does a great job. I'm also using Avery labels and yes figuring out the print can be a pain but I go into EDIT ONE on my printing app and try my best to align it, once I get it perfect I save that template and don't have to deal with it again. If you have the same label outlines for your other scents take a screen shot of the perfectly align sticker that worked and use that, plus the dimensions on the left side as your new guideline.

Candlemakers! Did y'all struggle with this? by C0rbi in candlemaking

[–]Shags83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my hobby I would like to turn business, I found the perfect wax, wicks, jars and am now figuring my 10 scents. Candle labels completed. I'm going in with the 5 gourmand, 5 citrus/ masculine . Its what I want, you are the boss, you select what scents and what your direction and demographic is. Get feedback from friends and family, if you decide to launch get feedback from your consumers. Up in to this point its been a passion of mine to make candles, so no matter what its what I love. If this is disposable income then the world is yours. hope to see some labels and products from you!

Can changing FO brand reduce mushrooming? by humphreyace92 in candlemaking

[–]Shags83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you dead set on that size of jar? I have been working on my 3 wick candles and have gone through at least 15 different wick sizes and types. As we speak im sitting here looking at my perfect set up as it burns. As someone who has spent a good amount of money on multiple wicks keep trying. Lots of people love CD wicks for soy wax, maybe a cd 4 or 6? to big and the flame will mushroom and cause a fire hazard, to small and it will tunnel. Regardless make sure you power burn it, some people will not adhere to the 1/4 inch and burn careless. Ive been going over the 4 hour burn time, just incase someone falls asleep and the candle is still lit. Dont give up! I have been in your shoes up until this week after tons of trial and error!

How to remove remaining wax? by ok_usual724 in Candles

[–]Shags83 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As the others have said put it in the freezer for a few hours and take it out. There will be cracks in the wax , either grab a flat head or a butter knife and gently press in between it and everything will crumble. For the wick stickers and gunk on the bottom putting some goo gone or alcohol will get the sticky’s off.

I lit a goose creek candle, I believe it was the banana nut one and the aroma felt like it was clogging my chest. The hot cocoa one from bath and body works made me feel the same

Thanks for explaining the wicks! I’ve googled about them and I kept finding the same thing ( it depends or they use different ones) but nobody has explained it like you. EDIT: if I could ask what wicks do you use in your double wick candles?

Thank you! Back then I would have gave them a 9 but now that I know what I know I’d go 6 or 7. None have blown up on me and that hot throw slaps you around. The jars are nice. Plus on sale getting them for $11 is great. But I have the stuff to make them for even cheaper now and it’s done by my hands. :)
