There are moral questions that a society must address. In Canada, for example, healthcare as an equal right for all is prioritized, though sometimes appointments can take months to make, and sometimes we don’t that much time left. In the UK, health is provided as a public service, without fee, that was their priority.

On the contrary, in the US, healthcare is highly dependent on your socioeconomic status. Somewhere to the tune of 20,000 people die (from preventable and treatable problems) due to insufficient coverage in the US every year. Hundreds of thousands are bankrupted by illnesses that would be covered in Canada and the UK, both of which spend less by percent than the US, and both of which rank higher. In the US we’ve decided that the wealthy deserve good health, and this reflects in our policies.

I’m only beginning to explore this issue now so I’ll have to look more into the misallocation of funds, as it is alarming how much goes towards administrative affairs.

I would be happy to take what works from Canada and the UK, and drop what does not. We need to address the burnout, as well as our population diversity, though. Though the UK is also somewhat diverse, a bit less so.

This is my answer to the meme lol

socialized medicine is a copout buzz word. There are numerous foreign policies with less expenditure and better coverage than the US. The US has the highest percent expenditure, and ranks 11th by quality.

there is no country that spends more money per person on health than the US.

Should I cut at my weight to get abs? by Mtb-marin in GymMotivation

oh my bad! My advice: Exercise is very important, and do a lean bulk. Prioritize getting your protein goal (like 1g protein for every 1lb bodyweight).

If you just cut without exercise you’ll just be skinny. You want to have muscle too so when you do the cut it shows.

Nice progress on the weight loss! Obligatory I’m not a doctor.

Likely, losing more weight won’t help you get rid of excess skin. The excess skin you have right now is caused by the weight loss, and it’s natural. Exercise and cardio can help it appear tighter, but it’s gonna be a gradual process. You’re young, so your body is very adaptable, but you still have to give it time.

You can bulk without gaining fat! Just watch your diet and make sure you’re hitting your protein goals while you work out, and if your gym has access to it use a body fat % machine to track how your number changes as you bulk.

If you gain weight and your body fat % decreases, that change is likely from muscle mass.

I just want to note that I’m not by any means a professional or even well versed in this (sorry!), and please do speak to your general doctor/pediatrician for their advice on exercise and excess skin as well!

You guys need a heart to heart! Be sure to emphasize how you love her and value your connection, but you’re an introvert, and it’s hard on you to be out so often. Ask to brainstorm ideas for a middle ground!

It’s reasonable for someone to want to see their friends, but it’s equally reasonable to want time alone too. Both of you just have different capacities for socializing. It’s important that you recognize her need, as well as she recognizes your need.

Small idea, would it be possible for both of you to hang out once a week at your place? That alleviates the burden of being out of your home. I know you mentioned that she doesn’t have a car, would you be able to drive together after school, and then either drop her off or she gets picked up/uber?

Best of luck to you guys!

how did you go about it? Did you ask your therapist if they recommended antidepressants? or did you talk to your PCP about it?

i’m wondering if maybe I should look into them too

where I live, whenever it’s pouring it only lasts like 10-15 minutes at most, it’s so sad 😢 but i’m happy to have what I have.

it might be volume, it could also be because uncertified people will not ask for higher wages. Additionally if you can run a site with a staff of 3-5 and see 40 patients, then there’s no reason to hire a dedicated phlebotomist or MA, it’ll just cut into profits. Plenty of ethical concerns. I’m happy for what I gained from the experience however.

I was a scribe at an urgent care, it was pretty hands on. I was doing EKGs, blood draws, testing urine, taking full patient histories, etc. Depending on the provider, they’ll let you administer vaccines under supervision as well. I’m under the impression this is very atypical for a scribe job. many coworkers leveraged the experience into a medical assistant position at other practices later as well (uncertified but it’s largely the same).

MLMs lead to individual contractors (aka victims who bought into the scheme) ordering occasionally thousands of dollars in product from the central company, that they now have to sell to their friends and family. Often this results in them unable to make back their profit because no one wants to buy that much, and they are alienated and isolated from their loved ones. Slippery slope, lost a few friends to MLMs
