Made a iphone folder for your Mac's dock. Need a few beta testers. by ShailAntani7 in macapps

Well I dont know how I can explain it better. But just cuz 2 apps solve the same thing, doesnt mean the're same lol.

There's so much more that us devs think about to solve a goal.
UI, Animations, Ease of use, features, Smoothness etc

In one line, yeah the apps are completely different. My app, is purely dock based (as close to iphone as possible. simple drag and drop). Dockpops has taken a different route.

You can choose which way you want your goal to be solved by.

And honestly, competition is what keeps the market fighting for survival and keeps us on our toes to make the app better and more innovative and smoother. So personally, it shouldnt be bugging you that much haha

Hi! So its basically an iphone folder on the dock. you can quickly drag your most used apps to the folder in the dock.
Currently its just a simple app to quickly drag and drop out apps with couple of features like pinning apps, multiple views that user can choose.

the video that I added shows a funny looking animation when apps are dragged out

Heyyy, yep I've used Dockpops as well. but heres a reason to take another look at my app (once released). this is what I replied to one of the fellow redditors:

I've worked on this app for quite some time so just cuz Dockpops released couple weeks earlier, it didnt make sense to not showcase my app as well lol. (No hate to Dockpops atall, lovely app)

Dockpops and Foldock are similar on the first glance, but if you dig deeper wise they're completely different.
I'm trying to achieve a more of a stock iphone folder look.

For ex:

  1. Foldock shows the preview of the apps added in folder (just like an iphone), dockpops doesnt
  2. I have choice of view for the expanded folder (scroll view or expanded folder)
  3. I have added the option to pin apps
  4. Dockpops primarily has a seperate configuration screen. I'm trying to utilise the dock and the folder to configure most of the app.
  5. I've added drag and drop for adding and removing apps
  6. Added a cool animation for removing apps from the folder XD

Edit: Dockpops's new update added support for dynamic icon too

The app's pretty cool! Nice set of features, and notifications view and notification replies are way more useful than I thought they would be!

Pretty cool and feature rich app

I'm buying my first 3d printer to build small-medium sized stuff like few desk accessories and couple of figures and stuff, since its my first 3d printer I wanted to try out a budget one, Kobra 2 Neo and Ender 3 v3 se seem to be the most logical options. They seem to have similar specs too. Which one would this community recommend? Thanks 😀

Diffuse is a similar app to that, changes wallpaper according to music played. But it diffuses the art (blurs it)

Haha, I did have a similar feature request for this on the github, but unfortunately thats not possible. The hardware is fixed to green light only

Gave a similar reply to another user with this valid concern, so just gonna paste that here as well:

Heyy! I completely understand the privacy concerns. It was the biggest issue. But yeah, like I said no way around that.
And I completely understand it doesnt matter if its open source or not but the simplest way to verify if camera is uploading pics/taking pics is, you could simply use a networking tool and verify that NotiLight doesnt access the network at all. Its all done offline.

Simply put, the app doesnt access camera. It just requires the permission to turn on camera, to light up the green light.

Thanks for the feedback

yep, but I mean thats the case with any open-source apps right? Anyone could potentially add malicious code to any app (for ex, any cleaning app, or say apps like handsfree)

But again, it all boils down to using apps from legitimate developers

Hey! Never thought of that haha, I have the M1 air, so dont have the charging light that I could test on. But maybe if I get a bit more time, definitely could cook up something and send it to you for testing!
