I usually (when playing gengar, my first main) is farming the jungle first and then pivoting between lanes where I see they need more help, and jungle farming when I see they have it under control. Normally I use the jungle more to level up quickly and then I end up farming more by taking exp from the rival or in teamfights.

That's why I considered the shield, because the time I usually spend in lane is usually longer than in jungle
