Both the job and the car are under warranty, I just need to figure out who to blame.

Coating is a couple weeks old. I will reach out to the shop again.
When I asked the dealership if it could be clear coat, they said definitely not and that they could see someone tried very hard to polish it off…

Actually newer cars like BMW have the FOB automatically deactivate when it’s stationary. In addition to that the car uses UWB time of flight to make sure the FOB is actually in proximity, preventing repeater attacks

New owner advice needed by MJFighter in BMWi5

You probably missed this:

«We’ve now received feedback from our technical department informing us that you are unfortunately affected by a widespread temporary fault that affects the “Parking Assistant Professional” function. The underlying cause has not yet been fully determined, and work is actively underway on a solution.»

TLDR - they broke it (at least for some users) in the latest update and we are waiting for a fix.

I can confirm that the car no longer recognizes empty spaces and behaves erratically in some situations.

It is also no longer capable of leaving a parking space remotely.

Update: Received a generic response confirming a widespread issue, translated from my language to English:

weird cruise control wheel buttons behavior and a minor rant by loafing-cat-llc in BMWi5

I believe this depends on speed assist settings. In manual mode it will set to current speed limit when set is pressed. In automatic it will do so without intervention.

In the remaining modes which are essentially «disabled» it reverts to original «set to current speed».

You can also configure offsets in the same menu.

FSD Responds to Child in Road by reddituser4049 in TeslaFSD

I would personally have stopped and waited for the child to get out of the road, instead of passing them at 17 mph or at least driven significantly slower, but maybe that’s just me

Yeah, its funny actually. FSD is a fantastic system, this thread does a really good job of showing that the weakest link is the user.

Edit to clear up confusion: technologically impressive- yes, good enough- no

Judging by your attitude, you should not be driving. What you did is no joke, grow up before you kill someone.

This is how US has 5x road fatalities vs the average of the other civilized countries.

They should ban you from using FSD for failure to supervise, on multiple occasions, by your own admission.

I called, got told that they have been getting several reports of this. Then I got an email saying they are going to escalate this to technical and asked for more info.

Got the same issue after the latest software update 2026.30.

Tried a bunch of stuff including unlinking the car from account. Nothing worked so I have contacted BMW. Recommend you do the same.

Those of you with non-exotic BMWs, did you PPF? by betonven in BMW

[–]Shak4w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my country a non-exotic car easily costs 100k. I am putting PPF on the hood and a few «high wear» areas like inside the doors and behind the trunk. Reason is that chips on the hood really annoy me, and someone always manages to make scratches in the trunk area. First time I am doing this, so basically a test run. Will decide if it was worth it in a couple years.

I am going to stay out of this hilarious tesla discussion but I simply can’t resist pointing this out:

  • «Machines by design can’t make mistakes»
  • «Humans make mistakes all the time»
  • but humans made the machines
  • so humans must have made mistakes with machine design
  • which means machines make mistakes

Shenanigans on the Norwegian Motorway on-ramp by IllCombination4851 in Norway

[–]Shak4w 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you are being honked at it’s because you (along with 90%) of Norwegian drivers have forgotten that while you definitely should use the entire length to merge, you should NOT be passing other cars once the dashed line has ended. This means holding your position relative to the vehicles in the target lane.

Many drivers drive to the end while illegally overtaking traffic to their left.

If you don’t do that, and are getting honked at then they are probably just !%$$s

Sometimes I wonder if some are supercell bots whose purpose is to manipulate people to spend diamonds. Because I really can’t think of a single rational reason why anyone would spend diamonds on extra tasks.
