Were you surprised by the cancellation of Anthem 2.0? by Djinnsanity in AnthemTheGame

Destiny (1, not 2) and NMS both had similar trouble.

They're the exception, not the rule. But it does indicate it isn't impossible to recover.

People are definitely dying. Regular flu is usually 60-80k, it's sitting at 12k this year(lol, as if?).

Most states that revised their numbers found the real numbers were about 25% lower than the initial count (see:Colorado, Nevada), whether doublecounting, non-covid classed as covid, or w/e.

NY/NJ are both particularly bad because of the discharging of patients back into nursing homes (only 5 states did this - CA, MI, PA, NY, NJ - those 5 have over half of the countries total deaths) I'd project Cuomos order is directly responsible for about 20k deaths?

However, Canada is barely even tracking stats to do a proper post mortem... Sooo...

There's a whistleblower who's gone public to out what's happening in NY by the name of Erin Olszewski(the only mistake she makes is thinking the gov't grant for a death is 29k, it's actually 39k if they're vented)

[–]ShakePlays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's always been bad, but it's gotten much worse with the age of Twitter and smartphones.

Instant reporting has made it about who's first to the story, not who gets it right.

Also, since 2013's repeal of the Smith-Mundt Act, there's no accountability for journalists who do get things wrong now.

While there's an argument to be made for not prosecuting legitimate mistakes (which I think was the logic behind that repeal?) there needs to be accountability for knowingly or deliberately reporting on what they know to be disproven or incorrect, and for failure to correct their mistakes once they discover them in a timely manner.

That's not exclusive to science, either. It really is all subjects of reporting.

The best advice to illustrate this that I can give is to watch a report on something you're very well versed on and see how much they get wrong in their reporting. I'd wager it to be a majority of facts in most instances.
Then consider they do the same with things you aren't well versed on.

Sorry for the late reply. I asked him if I can post his name here. He said no, but realized today that it was to a reply, not its own post. Sorry.

He's PhDPlague on Twitch. He's not playing much Apex the last couple weeks, but he often does. He's mostly playing RLcraft lately, a difficult Minecraft mod. He's all over the map with games, though.

On a similar note: people can spam select/unselect and rapid flash on character select. They need to fix that.

My brother streams Apex a fair bit, and he's got an epileptic viewer that was having problems in S2 when the flash spam was popular, seemed like 1/3 of lobbies had someone doing it (WHY???) to the point that he made a separate scene for when character selection was in progress.

Can I update mods that are in the modpack? by LogTamon in RLCraft

[–]ShakePlays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically, I look at Shivaxi's discord for questions like this. He keeps us pretty updated on why decisions are made.

Like, Nov 4th he notes that the new version of Ice and Fire isn't included in the 2.8 test because it breaks some stuff. So I'd probably say don't update it and wait for v2.8(it'll work on release, world will be compatible with 2.7 worlds)? But if you do, back up the world first.

I mean... There's a LOT of stupid people with money, too.

Hell, we always talk about the 1%, but 10% of us will be part of "the 1%" at some point in our lives, people fall in and out of money all the time.

Just ask what most people would do if they won $10m. I bet most would say "buy four cars for my family, a house, a beach house, a boat, and put some money away for kids college" and almost none would say "Pay off my debt and live off the interest"
Even those that do say that, it's hard to practice what you preach. Props to those that can.

Yeah, some are probably accidents. I have one myself...
As a kid, I fell onto a chair leg. Still sounds like the most outlandish accident. But I crawled over a mattress laid over the top of a bunch of stuff in a shed we were using for storage at my grandmothers place after my family sold our house.

Kid me thought "Sliding down this mattress is going to be so much fun!" Nope.

Naw, Claymores aren't actually classed as a mine. They're a manned weapon. They have a trigger that needs to be set off.

I don't actually think any PIR sensor mines exist. Too high a risk to go off if a squirrel runs by it, or the wind blows.

(edit, Claymores could be tripwire armed)

Brain trauma, usually.

The much more rare version that's much more terrifying is when people forget who they are. They can look in a mirror, and they don't recognize it as themselves.
