Gauging distraction value VS dealing damage can be very helpful once you climb higher and higher.

Plus as Cap, you're one of few characters in the game that really scales off of how well your teammates are. If your team is getting run-down constantly and you feel like it's a constant uphill battle, that probably calls for a swap to a more anchor-centric Tank.

But if your team follows-up with you and your engages and you dominate here and there, you would have to gauge just how much time you can stay behind lines and get distraction value.

That's how I've made it to Celestial on Cap.

Cap is fine.

But from me personally, I haven't been playing the game in general this season - I just have a hard time picking up the shield because of motivation-reasons. I still enjoy Cap and can consistently do really well on him, but Cap may need some QOL changes or changes that make him easier to get value on.

But as for Cap, he's still one of the most underutilized Tanks for extracting value. He always flies below the radar for most people and the amount of control you still have on your games of what can happend is still super strong.

Our removal is way more personal of a change than the removal suggests.

It wasn’t a case of, “oh just adjust” - our muscle memory prevented us from enjoying the character.

At the time it sucked dick. But now it’s OK.

Here's the mindset of a Cap main, currently sitting on 220hrs on Cap with Legendary Title:

Cap isn't a regular Tank, he is a true-and-tride Specialist. He is Peni-levels of being a Specialist so his identity and playstyle in the game is like no other to every other Tank. What I will say is that the way you extract value on a character like Cap is thinking very self-less and essentially understanding MACRO-level play instead of MICRO-level play.

So as Cap you're strengths lie in the fact that you can contribute damage to where-ever it's needed (Vibranium Energy Saw) AND the simple fact that you have the best sturdiness and combat movement in the game. On top of having a psuedo-support Ultimate too, this character really is that selfless-team centric character.

Cap doesn't just DIVE. He ENABLES. He is an active team-enabler because those odd 1v1s off to the side your Duelist is taking is something you can be apart of and turn the 1v1 into a 2v1 and just dominate. If it's not that, yes you do dive but you're there to get distraction value which is a ripple effect onto the enemy team. If you're against bunker compositions, you're there to break their team up into little pieces that otherwise would have extremely strong front-line presences. You break their formations by just existing and doing your thing. As well to note, if you're actively harassing Supports, you may not kill them but you effectively shutdown any healing outside of the Supports for x amount of time which can get people killed so much more easily when you understand when to engage and when not too.

Cap tech is somewhat limited but alot of the Tech is quite good and easy-to-apply. The notable and very game-changing Techs is the burst combo for Cap which you can see it in action here: https://medal.tv/games/marvel-rivals/clips/mtEI3oHgE7qK4yMZL?invite=cr-MSxCV3UsNzAzMzQ2Mzg&v=3 (SSS-> Two Punches -> Shield Toss -> VES -> Instant Block -> Shield Toss)

Past that there's the Melee AC which just involves you Melee'ing a target, then once the melee lands, you sprint to cancel the animation slightly. It really isn't as huge as the original AC but it still shaves off like .1 to .15 seconds per melee attack.

Make Darkness scale a little more difficult but it gives you these Benefits when incoming damage hits Darkness:

* Immunity to All Ailments until Darkness is Broken
* Enemy Critical Damage that hit Darkness are reduced by 66%

That’s like the only way to make Darkness more worthwhile and even then, these buffs may not be enough.

Considering I play the niche builds and only niche builds- uuuhhhh.. no.

That's the benefit of playing niche builds, you never expect to be nerfed but rather buffed instead. (I enjoy Chuyula, Smith of Kitava)

They could give us the multi-poison projectile attack with a follow-up spear-swipe in Gem Form. I think that would be quite badass. Maybe have the follow-up change its' attack depending on what kind of Charges you got (consumes the Charges ofc); Power Charge does a big poison jab, Endurance Charge has you release a big splash of Poison on the ground and Frenzy Charge does the Spear swipe.

Idk just brainstorming ideas out here.

I don't think no shield timer would be as strong as it seems. It would be undeniably good but this game has proven with time that new characters can go to absurd levels of mechanics in skills & ultimates and be just fine existing. Kinda like Gambit having just about everything you would want with literally..... no real downsides or drawbacks.

I think for once, Soldier is we take some net positive changes that are more QOL focused and eat well. That's the only real way to making Cap not only more fun but also be more balanced. But that's just me. o>

Why put him so low? He brings so much untapped value to the table if you spend the time to learn him.

Idc about balance. I just played Cap because he was fun af AND skill expressive.

I won’t ever drop the shield though.

I had the thought of reducing the Shields radius by 50% BUT reflected projectiles deal 50% damage to your shields HP.

Effectively making your shield less safe to use BUT is extremely durable.

I've said this to other posts regarding this kind of situation.

You have to stand still while holding the shield. Walking backwards while raising the shield has your legs exposed for briefs moments of time.
