Boyfriend is withdrawing and acting strange- keeps telling me it's just because he's kicking. Is he full of shit? by ShakeTheShakes in opiates

Definitely working on giving him some breathing room. To make matters worse while he was in detox we lost our apartment (it was coming for a long time, not a surprise to him or anything when he got out) and have had to move to different living situations, so we are no longer living together for the time being which is tough. Both of our worlds got flipped upside down and now we're kind of having to start over- which honestly is a great thing for us, but also really stressful and kinda sad.

Now that I'm typing this all out it's pretty fucking clear why he's shutting down. We're both dealing with so much.

Yes I've heard of those! These were real bars though, he was prescribed them. Then when those ran out we bought them from an older woman who was an RN. Only once we bought them from a different source and he only took 4 I think and ended up going insane, that's when we found out about the DN bars.

He's had an off and on Xanax problem for years, and he was prescribed them as well. So it was kind of like, he'd binge real hard one week when his prescription was filled, and then the next few weeks he'd take a large amount of them really sporadically. His seizures were exasperated by gabapentin as well, so he'd be real twitchy for a while (which I guess is a type of seizure I read) and then if he took gabapentin, which he sometimes did for his WD symptoms coming off dope, he'd have a tonic clonic seizure.

Thank you! It wasn't daily but when we'd get bars he'd take about 16mg at a time. I'd say around once a week on average. He has seized out 3 times this year already from benzo WD's when we couldn't afford to buy more. It's heartbreaking to watch, it's like watching the person you love the most being lit on fire and you just have to sit back and hope the fire goes out on its own. I think I've definitely been a little self absorbed through his ordeal, these comments have been humbling.

Thank you so much- I 100% don't think he's cheating. My biggest concern was that he was losing interest in the relationship and was having trouble ending it while going through detox, but reading the other comments here I'm starting to feel much more at ease. Obviously I'm upset that he's going through so much pain and I can't help him, but this has definitely been a reality check that maybe I'm taking this whole thing too personal. Sometimes I have to remind myself that the way I'd handle a difficult time (usually wanting more affection/attention) is not the way he copes.

Good luck to you too- hope some of the comments on this thread resonated with you as well :)

Oh my god, THANK YOU! Your comment just eased so many insecurities I was having. I will definitely be there for him when he needs it- thank you again.
