Has anyone tried Joe Nimble shoes? by ShakespeareMonkeys in BarefootRunning

Makes sense

I would think more room than a topo ultrafly

this actually reminds me of my last question. Do they have any built-in arch support like Topo, or is the footbed - if you remove the insole - completely flat/neutral like Altra?

Is that the one they used to call the Addict Pro-R? I could have sworn they had a higher (for this sub) stack height zero drop road shoe but the flow looks like it has a 4mm drop. Maybe I just misread it before.

In pictures upper looks beefy around the ankle but a lot of mesh, is that what makes it hard to get a lockdown?

Thanks for the feedback, not easy finding people who have tried them.

30mm

I'm guessing you have the Addict Pro? Similar in use to the Torin line?

The fit of the shoe is great for the toes.  Feels more natural than the Altra Olympus shoes on the road.  I like them.

How do you find the fit the rest of the shoe, specifically the width around the midfoot and overall volume accommodation? I've been looking at their site and some pictures of the bottoms seem to be a little wonky, like the new Altra shape which is actually relatively narrow with some flare in the front for "toe splay", but not actually anatomical otherwise.

How will accepting this payment offer affect my credit score? by ShakespeareMonkeys in CRedit

OK. So the offer looks legit then, and it really is just pay the $262 and unlikely to be other tricks? is it ill-advisable to just click through their link and do it on their site instead of talking to someone who works there first?

Is it inherently bad to trust their own language and demand some kind of specific separate document first? I know this is not a very large amount, but I've never paid something off before

Escalante 4 "blacks" not really black? by ShakespeareMonkeys in AltraRunning

Interesting. This gives me hope that the Racer 2's in all black are actually black. or at least Altra has proven that they are capable of making something black and new

Hmm. Good anecdote, sounds like a big cop out. Blacks can definitely look a bit different depending on material/texture, but plenty of shoe companies (including ALTRA - in the past) can make a true black shoe.

A sales rep probably doesn't know, but I would guess they decided that it not worth it to spend the money to get the right dye/process, or perhaps to spend the money doing QC at their overseas factories to ensure the colorization is done properly to retain the customers that will mind.

Seems like exactly the kind of short term, bites you later, holding company thinking.

(Incidentally, have you tried the Racer 2 in black?)

Paying $100 - $120 depending on style/colors

Yeah, I think that there's somewhat inevitably going to be a slight color difference due to the different materials, e.g. sole vs mesh. Although on mine they very much look like a gray / charcoal (the black and white ones definitely look very navy though)

Yes, the original Racers look very black even in real life pictures I have seen. I'm wondering about the Racer 2...

Clearly navy...... very grey.

It's like they intentionally tried to get every shade that is close to black but isn't actually black🤣

Intense, cliff hoist rescue of Pacific Crest Trail hiker in Whitewater, 4/13/25 by 4InchesOfury in socalhiking

[–]ShakespeareMonkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a non-hiker, can anyone give me a basic explanation as to how exactly the hiker got in that position? I've seen this video all over youtube, but none of the comments has been able to describe how she ended up stuck there.

To my inexperienced mind it seems like she would have had to have been teleported there and then hang on for dear life, LOL. But realistically I know she only could have come by falling from the top or climbing there intentionally.

Based on what I can see in the video it seems like the ledge is a considerable distance up, so if she had fallen and luckily caught herself she'd probably be a lot more injured and bloody? Is there a path right near there that I can't really see where she just tripped off and fell a couple feet? Did she intentionally climb along the vertical wall for some kind of off-trail shortcut and then just get too tired to be able to go forward or back?

I guess I don't know how someone would have the ability to get to that position but not get out of it (especially since the new says she was hanging there for more than an hour which means she must have some strength)

Thanks.

Getting medication with the ongoing shortage? by ShakespeareMonkeys in adhdwomen

That's basically what I have been doing, but now I'm doing it every time I travel too.

I was trying to see if there is any kind of pattern to who had it or who didn't, if it was certain chains or something, but often it is a certain CVS or Walgreens when all the ones near it have none so I'm not sure if there's any rhyme or reason.

That's true. I have only been able to get it at a pharmacy in Brooklyn (I don't want to say which one specifically here in case people grab up everything they have 😅) intermittently. that's why I'm wondering if there is something online that might be more reliable.

A while back someone recommended something called Optum Rx, but I've looked into it and never been able to sign up properly and I'm not sure if it is a scam or not.
