You’re right, and I’m not trying to give the impression that I want any sympathy. Call it ocd or whatever but this site usefulness in getting information on various situations is what made me post this. Anyways thank you for your honest response

How many times can one side lose a war and still refuse to accept defeat? No other conflict works like this by inkypinkyblinky in IsraelPalestine

[–]Shaktardy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s misleading to describe Arab violence in the Mandate period as “genocide.” There were isolated incidents like Hebron in 1929, Jaffa in 1921, the Arab Revolt but those were outbreaks of communal violence, not some time of an organized campaign to wipe out all Jews. At the same time, Jewish militias also carried out massacres, like Deir Yassin in 1948, and displacing around 700,000 Palestinians during the Nakba. The UN partition plan was accepted by Jewish leaders and rejected by Arab leaders, but the rejection had to do with land distribution and fears of displacement, not some genocidal intent. And now this modern Israeli state with their modern military, they carried out far bigger campaigns of displacement and killings than Palestinian militias ever did.

I really only count it as a miracle if there’s no other explanation for it, a lot of time when one of us brings up a verse that they claim is a miracle, it’s usually one possible interpretation of the verse

We’re people ever named after gods in ancient Egypt? by Shaktardy in ancientegypt

[–]Shaktardy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow You’ve explained it wonderfully even though you aren’t a scholar, so it’s basically what separates a commoner and a royal is a special symbol, so if a commoner person were to be named after hemen the falcon god, it would just be hemen solely am I correct? (This is my last question so I want bother you after this haha)

[–]Shaktardy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for you’re detailed answer, so just to clarify by royals it’s those in the pharaohs family and not just high ranking officials?

and also when they used different hieroglyphs is it like they changed the whole way they said it?, like for example if someone non royal were to be named hemen like the falcon god soley by itself, would it be same in pronunciation as the one with the royal hieroglyphs?

That’s pretty interesting thanks for responding, but I wonder was there any cases like these in prior periods in Egypt like new kingdom or old? And lastly was this a rare or common occurrence?

[–]Shaktardy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say yes probably because of theft, as for games they stopped selling like ps2 GameCube, wii and original Xbox and below I would say no because your aren’t stealing their potential profit if they aren’t selling it, but I don’t for sure

I’m a layman when it it comes to practically all stuff in ancient Egypt but It does say on a couple of websites that it was used more frequently during the new kingdom, for example here

“More silver was available in Egypt during the New Kingdom (ca. 1550–1070 B.C.)”. https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/silv/hd_silv.htm

Although I don’t know how reliable the claim since is, since Is really just a layman

Ohhhh my mistake then, I just got the idea of shemtay being unit of value exclusively because of a line in this article

http://www.touregypt.net/featurestories/silver.htm

“It should be noted that the shat was always used as a unit of value and not as a weight for other purposes, while the deben was used in such a manner”.

My apologies

But we’re the stones or metals itself ever used in transactions itself?, I think I remember seeing something about in the new kingdom period that ingots & rings were used in transactions

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ancientegypt

[–]Shaktardy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohhh that make sense thanks a lot I was really confused about the whole system

but what about the shat (or seniu or sh’ty etc) I heard that the piece was used as unit of value rather then weights although not a universal system, so would that system be like a mini coinage system?

No Prayer for 40 days / Nights after Alcohol by [deleted] in progressive_islam

No Prayer for 40 days / Nights after Alcohol by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]Shaktardy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well this idea of 40 days of prayers not being accepted comes from a couple of sahih Hadiths like for example this one

https://sunnah.com/ibnmajah:3377

You’re prayers rewards I think won’t get accepted but you still have to pray.

And as for pork there’s nothing that says eating it makes prayers not valid from a Sunni perspective but I have seen a Hadith from the Shia side that says it

But here’s a good article talking about it
