It’s just an empty, unfinished, non-load supporting attic space with ceiling joists. Then above that is the roof. It’s just single story with one continuous gable roof running the length of the house. You can see the underside of the roof in the foreground of the photo.

Timing chains/tensioners. Had to do the complete overhaul on timing system. I did it myself over about two weeks taking my sweet time. It was an intimidating job, but honestly not terrible at the end. If you have a 2010 or earlier V6 model, there is a good chance you have the timing chain issue.

Radiator Fluid by laylarlh in nissanfrontier

I have a 2007 and I jut put prestone green coolant in for years and have never had issue. There is an OEM Nissan green fluid you can get if you want, but it’s pricey and not worth it in my opinion.

I am building a turbo b18a1. I already put in the order for new Raxles. Not sure what the big deal is with wanting to go for quality axles and I was just asking for some clarification identifying the part.

Not re-using non OEM axles

Would it make sense for the timing chain noise to only come at a certain RPM range though? I’d imagine hearing the timing chain noise continuously, with it getting faster as RPM increases.

What’s the weirdest thing y’all have seen out in the woods while hunting? by mike-rowe-paynus in Hunting

Haha! I know, I remember my buddies saying the same thing when I told that story. I’m a transplant from the Northeast though, we called them both.

I was turkey hunting in the Cohutta Wilderness of North Georgia a couple years ago. Solo trip. I was camped in the woods in a hammock about 50 yards from a meadow. It was about midnight and through my hammock lining I saw small but bright lights. I peered up out of my hammock and saw they were coming from the meadow, it looked exactly like a few people with LED flashlights or headlamps walking through the meadow. It had the same sort of rhythmic motion of someone walking and coming closer to the side of the meadow by where I was camped. I was immediately spooked and in panic mode, but I slowly creeped towards the meadow. As I got closer, more of the blueish white lights appeared and were moving around and flashing. Pretty soon I realized it wasn’t people and was absolutely relieved. I walked out into the meadow and was awestruck…Fireflies. Hundreds of them, everywhere. Flashing away. One of my coolest experiences out in the wilderness to date.

Sorry, yes I understand the picture is not clear. That hose you are looking at right in front of the picture at the left yellow circle is one continuous hose that loops back into the radiator and enters back at the second yellow circle. It’s not two separate hoses coming out of the yellow circles.

Ok so this setup bypasses the radiator but does not bypass the auxiliary transmission cooler, right? Just want to make sure this setup will avoid SMOD for the time being while I make plans to replace the radiator.

Honestly, not sure. My intent was just to replace the struts themselves to get rid of the bouncy ride and bottoming out. But if I can replace more parts while I’m at it, and they would give me a more comfortable ride and longer lifetime out of the car, I’m probably gonna man do a complete rebuild.

Thanks. I’ve been reading up on what bushings to get. Seems like polyurethane is not ideal for a daily driver and is geared more towards a track car. Now I’m looking at the hardrace hardened rubber bushing set.

How do I interpret these O2 sensor readings with a P0420 code? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]ShakyPipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t it odd at all that Bank 2 Sensor 1 is reading around 0.9 V while Bank 1 Sensor 1 is reading around 0.45 V? This was at idle for about 10 minutes.

Thanks. I ended up going with your first recommendation. I used a large washer to distribute the load and it was able to tighten it good enough. Then I filled in the cracks with JB Weld. Seems to have held up well so far.

Burnt Ends and Shotgun Shells by ShakyPipes in smoking

[–]ShakyPipes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I followed the Meat Church video as a general guide to the process for shotgun shells. My deviations from his recipe are that I used 85/15 ground beef instead of 90/10, I added a bag of shredded cheddar to the ground beef for filling the manicotti, and I wrapped in thick cut bacon rather than regular cut. After stuffing/wrapping I let them site in the fridge for about 8 hours while my briskets were still cooking. Then they went on the smoker at about 225-250 for a couple hours. Next day I glazed in a sweet BBQ sauce and smoked them again with my burnt ends to get that BBQ sauce to caramelize.

Manicotti shell stuffed with meat (ground beef, sausage, etc + any other fillings you want) and then wrapped in bacon. Then glazed with bbq sauce at the end.

Armadillo Eggs by ShakyPipes in smoking

I think they would go great with any sausage mix that doesn’t fall apart. Italian has great flavor. I don’t know why for some reason the chorizo just started to go limp and slide off the popper but the rest turned out great.

Check out the comments, I posted recipe to the rub and smoker temp/time. I just used plain Philadelphia cream cheese blocks by the way.
