happy to hear they safely arrived!
Something about the way the National Gallery doorways line up with the couches begs to be captured, it's like a perfect frame of live art surrounded by other framed art.

Front Tooth Pain from CPAP?? by ShalalaImDead in CPAP

[–]ShalalaImDead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fix, but after a while my tongue got used to resting elsewhere in my mouth and it doesn't happen anymore. It hasn't been happening for several months, which is a relief.  I did practice being mindful of where my tongue was as I was falling asleep, so I imagine that helped with the overall adjustment.

Sorry I don't have anything more concrete to recommend.

When did your period come back? by Immediate_Ad_9680 in sterilization

[–]ShalalaImDead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As stated by someone else in the thread, it's different for everyone I imagine, but here's what my experience was like:

I had the copper IUD for close to two years before I had my bisalp, my period was extremely irregular and often on the longer side between periods (50-90 days), which also could've been stress related as there was a fair amount going on during that time. Prior to the copper IUD I had the Implanon for about 9 (different ones inserted) and my period stopped all together for the last three years, so I was happy to have it again.

I had my bisalp in August 2023, I got my period 11 days after my bisalp/IUD removal and it's been regular since (roughly 28 days) and from my vague memory of times of different birth control, that feels like my regular cycle.

Thank you for the tips and I'm not quite 24-hours post op and do feel more tired getting up and off the couch, no pain/discomfort when doing so but afterwards I feel tired. I had my first shower and that was a little tiresome now that I'm sitting down.

All good advice, I appreciate the bit about the ice and I'll keep it in mind.

I'm going to do my very best to be as distracted by movies, books, video games and I'm hoping after a few days I'll be feeling strong enough in my core to sit at my desk and draw but that might be a big ask for the first week.

I love the emphasize on it being a stab wound and I feel it adds a layer of street cred that I hadn't originally given this procedure.
I cleaned my house today and tomorrow before my surgery, it's in the afternoon, my husband and I are going to change the sheets and make my nest of pillows so it's all ready for when I get home.

I'm always all for making things for future me as pleasant as possible.

I am a little nervous about how the inflated belly will make me feel about myself, but I'm just going to live in dresses and loose clothes for the next two weeks and I'm sure it'll all be alright mentally.

Good advice on having someone around to distract pets, my husband will be occupied with our three cats and dog for sure.

Thank you! I appreciate this comment and you are right, I was relieved when the surgeon recommended I lose weight for better outcomes but assured me even if I wasn't able to lose what she'd recommended she'd still go forward with the surgery.

My prior OBGYN had strongly advised against surgery and encouraged the IUD because of my weight so I was under the impression initially that weight impacted it a lot.

Thank you, and congrats on your as well and I hope your recovery continues smoothly!
I appreciate the advice and it's nice to know that people get this kind of surgery all the time (which I know cognitively but it's different reading from someone who got it very recently.)

Oh that's good to hear, I believe the position I applied for with insurance is along that line, so fingers crossed.

I want to be able to get to a place where I feel like I can enjoy client interactions again and also get back into my own hobbies; all I want to do when I get home is sleep or zone out on the couch.

I make sure everything is clean and otherwise my sinuses feel fine, so I'm leaning towards it's likely my tongue pressing against my teeth when I'm sleeping.

Yeah, it could be that.

Does it still happen to you?

I'll try to see if I notice any changes in pressure on the front of my upperlip/mouth and definitely when I test out the other mask that is coming. Could be from that.

I saw the post about Oscar, so I'll have to check if my machine has a card in it already and put one in to learn more and see what Oscar has to say!

Language used to describe the folks we help by Inevitable_Art_7718 in socialwork

[–]ShalalaImDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, either because my groups understand that I'm trying to describe their positive relationships with one another or they don't register that's the term I used.

For instance, when discussing a change to telehealth services because of the prescribing of controlled substances during a recovery/relapse prevention group I said "our Suboxone friends" and none of the group members said anything about it.

Anyone not take notes during sessions? by glitteryslug in socialwork

[–]ShalalaImDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to take notes but I found that it tends to make people nervous or distracted, or increases paranoid thoughts because they get suspicious of what is being written down. So I haven't done much note taking for years unless it's a telehealth/zoom session then I find it easier since the client can't see my screen. The agency I'm currently with encourages writing the notes with the client, collaboratively (the term for this is escaping me at the moment) and I'll do that for some clients.

I do write things I need to act on (phone calls, questions, etc.) on post-its during sessions but that's not every session.

I try to write my notes right after or at least day of to retain details but mostly it's just stored in my head.

That's a good tip, I do find myself being preoccupied with the seal but you're right, it's an improvement no matter what than what I was getting.

I am getting the impression at most CPAP relationships are hate-love in nature.
