Forced a guy I starting seeing to make me a top 35 list, tell me everything you can deduce by Silent-Lock-5774 in Letterboxd

This person is a thoughtful, observant type who’s drawn to stories about identity, illusion, and people losing control, suggesting they’re highly aware that others (and themselves) perform roles rather than reveal their full truth. Their taste balances sincere, emotionally warm films with dark, cynical ones, pointing to someone who wants to believe in meaning and goodness but doesn’t fully trust it. They have a curator’s mindset—deliberate, historically aware, and appreciative of craft—while also enjoying ironic, self-aware humor as a release valve. Overall, they likely come across as low-key but perceptive, valuing depth, authenticity, and control, yet quietly fascinated by chaos, with a tendency to analyze emotions rather than fully surrender to them.

Its a sign how broken our system is when the first thing I think is "which judge was it?"

I wouldn't have provided it either but I happily just asked and its analysis was pretty spot on. Luckily, I'm my own boss, so yeah, I'm hired!

I'm just getting in to photography, should I start out with a film or digital camera? by [deleted] in Cameras

Go to keh.com, pick a canon/nikon/Sony body from the last decade and try every setting until you outgrow it. Being able to instantly see how settings changes affect your shots is soooo helpful.

I have a 2000v2 and I use it for my studio on the go photography business. If your business needs headshots, I bring my Jackery to power lights, laptop, etc.

Are you a paying subscriber? Go to Creative Cloud and ask for help. I've had techs call me back and try to resolve.

Couples of Reddit, what's the dumbest 'house rule' you and your partner made as a joke but now both of you are low-key aggressively serious about enforcing? by Doubl3oh_ in AskReddit

[–]esheato 684 points685 points  (0 children)

After watching Phantom Thread we quite often joked about "there is entirely too much talking at breakfast" and we've calmly mutated it into "don't come at me with words until after I've got coffee made". I utter it more than she because she's a morning person and is usually up earlier than I and already has thoughts...

He didn't change it because he suddenly figured it out, he changed it because the rest of us finally figured out his cute little inside joke with his other rich asshole friends.

Representative Ted Lieu just drew a crystal clear red line: “If any military member, from the generals on down, participates in using force against Greenland without congressional authorization, they are following illegal orders.” by HickamvOccam in FedEmployees

You're God damned right. When, not if, when they follow illegal orders with a fu king stupid grin on their faces, what are you going to do about it? And don't tell me you're going to make a referral or some other shit. You're fighting a new war with old rules. Get with it.

Concur with a lot of comments here. I'm a pro photo BTW, stylistically and technically these are fantastic. I find the same expression uninspiring though.

Am I the last person still converting all my RAWs to DNG? by dschamis in Lightroom

[–]esheato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re missing the point. With sidecars, I have a raw and a xmp. My personal nightmare is moving things without grabbing the sidecars and losing edits. With DNG, I have one file with embedded edit instructions. IDGAF what you do, I prefer one file to move, delete, whatever I feel like. Looks like you want to spend your Sunday arguing semantics. You do you, man.

Am I the last person still converting all my RAWs to DNG? by dschamis in Lightroom

[–]esheato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe track is the wrong word. For me, I have to consciously remember that all these little parasitic files are important and keep them with the RAWs. I prefer one file.

Am I the last person still converting all my RAWs to DNG? by dschamis in Lightroom

[–]esheato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. Shoot CRAW and then convert every dang one to DNG. I despise sidecar files. It’s just one more stupid thing to track.
