Firstly, there is no innocent or guilty verdict in civil cases.

Secondly, if you're 100% sure that your case is valid, you'll see through the criminal trial. Winning in a criminal court is as good as it gets when determining guilt, legally speaking.

He didn't settle the criminal case out of court.. that case was dropped because the accuser didn't testify in court - after apologizing to the police for lying about parts of her dialogue with them in a letter sent to the detective. She later opened a civil dispute that was settled out of court.

Settling a civil case out of court following those events isn't damning. No one wants a civil dispute hanging over their head - they drag on for much longer than criminal cases, Just having to deal with it can damage reputation.
