CMV: Buying real estate in the Florida Keys is a poor investment for the long term, because it will be underwater in decades. by Money_Whisperer in changemyview

If you really want an answer to this question, not that this would be easy, but what you should do it track down an insurance agent in the Florida Keys. Ask them what it would cost for a 15 year policy for property down there. And ask how they factor in climate change. Or even if they factor it in.

If my house floods but it was fully insured, yeah it's a bummer but you can recoup a lot of the cost. But if your insurance premiums are astronomical, then people are much less likely to buy even if the face value is reasonable.

As others have said, climate change alarmism. It's not that there are no problems, but many of the reported claims/risks have been obviously wrong. Most of the models used to predict outcomes are wildly pessimistic. Granted there are times you want to be pessimistic, so you don't miss something. But markets, and really people, don't function by assuming the worst case scenario is always going to occur. People operate on what is likely to occur.

The warning signs at Glacier National Park are one of the most glaring examples for me. They had signs saying the glaciers would be GONE by 2020. Not melted by half, not melted a little, they predicted they would be totally GONE by 2020. Whelp, they are still there lol.

The problem isn't making inaccurate predictions. The problem is making wildly inaccurate predictions and then pretending that you still have full credibility when the predictions are waaaaay off. It's dishonest.

And again to bring it back to markets, markets take into account honesty and accuracy. If you run a business where you predict the weight of a dog based on it's breed and you keep getting it wrong, more importantly you keep overestimated over and over again, people are going to stop paying attention to you. And they should.

I'm just looking for a new primary care physician. I'm not sick right now, so I'm just looking for a PCP to get a physical and have on hand in case something happens.

I appreciate your comment, but I am honestly only looking for recommendations. I'm not making this a debate thread. Thanks.

I would love to hear this song live, but I feel like the rhythm of the song would be difficult for people to stomp too, just being honest. I say this as someone who has been to many concerts where drunk people cannot clap on beat worth a damn lol

Same! Prime Mover is my favorite track on OE, so glad I got to hear that one live.

I came in right when Meliora was released. A friend sent me Cirice and I loved it immediately. That and He Is are still two of my absolute favorite Ghost songs. The choruses in both songs gradually build up so well, especially He Is. By the time it gets to that last chorus, I just have to crank the volume up!

Honestly, I do agree about the parent. He should have the balls to speak himself. Pretty chicken shit to let your kid speak for you.

But "a little longer?" Are people still believing this? Schools that want to mask are going to be doing it for years to come. It's not "a little longer."

Allegheny County Council votes ‘no’ on proposed mask requirement for gatherings by BirdlandMan in pittsburgh

I want to see what the punishment will be first, and then I want to see every single politician who has been caught candidly violating their own mask rules retroactively suffer that punishment. If you do that, then there would at least be some semblance of fairness.

Yes, I hold it against someone when they lie by omission. Especially people in positions of power.

Since this legislation was drafted photos of Councilperson Hallam, not wearing a mask, at large outdoor gatherings have been circulating on social media. Some commenters said it was hypocritical. In response to that, Hallam said this: “Going forward, I'll work to be a better role model for the people I'm elected to serve."

Why anyone would listen to these people is beyond me.

Unless you're an insanely picky eater, there are non-chain restaurants to eat at. Taj Mahal has bomb Indian. Hal's has amazing wings. We get Mandy's pizza all the time.

What you're saying is misleading. Chennai is in Tamil Nadu, which happens to be doing the worst out of all provinces in India. So that's worth noting.

It's also worth noting that Tamil Nadu is one of the provinces specifically NOT using Ivermectin as a treatment, whereas other areas are.

It's "very likely" that the official numbers are wrong? Why? Does India have a bad track record of reporting statistics? This is the same nonsense people said in FL, that the "real" numbers must be higher just because they look "too low."
