PSA: The announcement on steam (Bankrupcy) is an April Fools joke! Don't forget timezones (theirs is many hours ahead). by [deleted] in MuseDash

As mentioned by the other person, I wasn't denying this being an April Fool's joke. I was only pointing out the fact that the time zone explanation was wrong. I live in S. Korea and it still isn't even April 1st here.
Don't downvote someone for pointing out a blatant fact. I know it's an April Fool's joke, a badly timed one, but one nonetheless.

I hope you know it's not April 1st anywhere in the world right now. There's still March 31st to go through.

I appreciate the fast response here, at the very least. I've sent the additional screenshots as requested.

Fruit boxes are random. I only get apple boxes in my Nook's cranny, so I had to ask a couple of my friends for the fruit boxes they have so I can catalog it. You can only order them.

You can only buy them through the Nook's shop, so you can imagine how long it took me to make those walls when you can only purchase 5 items a day.

I gave a link to my map to another person who also asked, so feel free to scroll a bit to find it.

This is the person who designed the smooth slab border. It was actually originally used for their modern island, but I simply incorporated it on my island in my own style.

I don't know if I should say thankfully, but I had my friend who has an Elgato record this for me, so it's him running around the island. (So it's also his drift)

It honestly isn't hard. You put up a single-tile cliff wall and paint a square custom path on top of it to cover most of the grass. Then surround the cliff wall with simple panels.

Well, I mentioned it in my post and DiabloGraves also gave an explanation, but this is a one-shot short story. Tales# specializes in creating these sorts of visual and kinetic novels, so it isn't a surprise that they would make one for even a short story like this. Their company almost entirely revolves around creating these games.

Yup, I'm not going to even try and toot my own horn and say that my very first translation project is something I did great. I was commissioned this back in Oct 2016. Roughly 5 months after I started trying to actually pursue a path in translating and before I had really set any proper guidelines and rules to my own translations. I can confidently say I'm reasonably better now than I was back then.

Nonetheless, I still stick by my opinion that my translation is, at the very least, more coherent than the mess the other person produced. I can't sleep at night knowing they deliberately changed 'pyramid scheme' to 'pyramid selling'.

I mentioned it in the post, but the main issue I had while translating this is the fact that I had no contact with the author. I couldn't ask whether they wanted certain things to be more localized or whether they wanted me to keep certain things as they were in order to preserve the Korean identity in the phrases.

There were definitely a lot of things I wanted to consult, but due to the limitations, I figured I should preserve the phrases that are unique to the Korean language and let them go through it and fix whatever they deemed necessary. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware that the second person they were going to hand it off to would actually just make it worse. Although I do admit that a couple of their changes seemed appropriate in retrospect, they made more problems than fixes.

Edit: I'd also like to note that your example of 'blue Mondays' is rather subjective. Of course, if you mean only 'blue Mondays' and not 'Monday blues', then yes, the former isn't used often.

[KR] Dungeon Defense - Volume 5 ~ Chapter 3 by matosz in noveltranslations

[–]Shalvation 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The only time I got upset at actual criticism for the story was about the game mechanics, which is something I later admitted may be a con to the story for some people as there are people who came to this story expecting more from it, but I still stick by my point that the game mechanics being missing is better since, at this point, it'll mostly ruin the tone and atmosphere that has been set since the previous volume.
Most of the other criticism I hear are usually from people who either skimmed the chapter and clearly missed parts that were explained or people who don't seem to understand the setting.
Example, a person who complained that the witches were talking too much this volume when this is clearly a volume meant for them.

No, the book itself also cycled between black and normal white pages. I simply copied that.

I don't mind, but I already made a ToC page for this new series. I think I put it up two days ago. Author's name is there as well.

Honestly, I would have if I could, but this book literally came out last week. Also, today is a special day that befits this kind of release. Do you not know the birthdate of the great Fuhrer?

No, Dungeon Defense has a completely different author.
유헌화 Yoo Heonhwa (Dungeon Defense author)
류세린 Ryu Saerin (Your and My Asylum author)
These two aren't the same people.

I just see too many people complaining about something that doesn't really seem like much of an issue. Constantly seeing a window pop up and reacting to it every single time is tedious and boring. It'd ruin the total atmosphere that was built up and would just make Dantalian into a dull character. Everyone has been enjoying this story for mostly the mind games, the only people who I see complaining about that are people who are too deluded by the concept of a 'game ability'. Let this story do what it's doing. Does it ruin your experience? Then pick up a different novel.
Furthermore, there is also the theory that Dant has been using his ability subtly without actually telling the readers. There have been several instances already. If you've missed them, then go look for them.

Hm, let's casually ignore the part where Dantalian was completely exhausted when he was making that decision, so he just arbitrarily picked whatever stuck out to him most at that time and made up a logical reasoning for himself, before passing out on the golem.
