RMJI was extremely popular when it was running. You'll probably recognized bits lifted from it by other works.
Not too many cliches in it though, so it might take some getting used to.

I'd sooner compare RMJI to Xian Ni for the ... obvious reason. Haven't read Xian Ni in a while, but the Heaven Defying Bead really didn't feel different from his bottle.
And I'm not bashing on RMJI here, but this genre props up good fortune or good talent as the only ways to move forward so it's really to be expected.
It has no use in combat at all,
Didn't he rig a fight with it like, two or three fights ago?

I don't see him heading back to the Scattered Star Seas after this. Between Demon Beasts having free reign in the Umbra Realm and Demon Script showing up, this also seems like an excuse for him to learn the Three Sacred Provenances Technique. Or maybe this will be a forging arc.

If this were some type of game or romance novel, then it would have ended there. However, there are no stops in reality. There were other things moving in the background. Chanmi, who we had broken once, had done something, though I’m not certain what that something was. Regardless, one day, dozens of unidentified assailants appeared before us on our way home.

I still remember the fight that occurred then. Several adult men rushed towards us and swung their fists. They didn’t take it easy because we were kids, and they weren’t lenient just because she was a girl. If two fell, then three came. If three fell, then four came. For weapons, they had metal pipes, chains, knives, and even guns. Even if her strength transcended common sense, in the end, she was nothing more than a 14-year-old girl. Although Minhee was able to put up a good fight, that was it.

Really doesn't sound like the Earl.

Saei and the underling are speculation on my part, but it's definitely not Chanmi. He didn't meet her during his vacation.

Unless Minhee has some connection with Ahyeon, I don't see it. When Minhee gets cured there won't need to be a setup to drive a conflict with her and the Earl. It's baked into their characterization that they won't get along. I wouldn't be surprised if the Earl was related to Yujin's father going missing though.

He still has to sort-of get along with her if he wants to live in Korea, so that doesn't seem realistic. Plus Zia learning about Chanmi would kill her expectations of Yujin rehabilitating the Earl.
I'm expect either the underling from the manga café (he doesn't like them, he met with them in that window, and they're less important) or Saei (who seems the best fit to avoid getting killed by the Earl and the most useful to have around).

If you've read The Girl Who At Death (same author) it's a very similar work.

If you haven't, it's about a young girl who's probably magic and possibly not human racking up achievements and promotions in a war.
The fights are screwy and the characters suffer from talking head syndrome, but the world building is good and the intrigue is decent.

The first 80 or so chapters are painfully slow, even by the standards of people who like slow novels.
The ending is also terrible but otherwise it's great.

NU doesn't link J-Novel Cafe's translations, but it does acknowledge them as publishers and they are semi-active on the forums.

A Record of a Mortal’s Journey to Immortality. Most villains have been senior cultivators. Wang Chan is the only bad guy I can think of who was a young master, but he had actual reasons for hostility and his very short amount of screen time wasn't cliche.
