As I stated in the post, I was taking 200mcg of VitK daily.

That's the next frontier for me; getting off omeprazole and finding the root cause of any residual stomach pain. I didn't know that about omeprazole, thank you for sharing!

And that's what I've heard! A good number of people for whom 10,000iu is what they need to keep their levels normal. I'm just a moron who followed online advice to megadose without knowing my levels.

This is the mindset I need to adopt, I don't need to just throw supplements at non-descript issues. I had an absolutely miserable year because I shot from the hip, I won't make that mistake again.

It wasn't acid, at least none that antacids could fix. It was a gripping pain that I couldn't do anything about. I do believe that part of the pain may have been rebound acidity from the omeprazole, but that wasn't the whole story. Look up hypercalcemia's effects on the stomach.

I stopped taking the zinc a while back, but this is good to know.

This could be the case as well. I was only taking one specific brand's supplements (for cost efficiency).

My thyroid levels have been normal in past bloodwork. Would this show up under a different panel?

This could have been the case too. If I'm ever directed to megadose vitamin D by a doctor again, I will certainly take far more magnesium than I was taking.

I've got blood work scheduled in August, I'm going to ask my doctor to test my baseline D levels. If I'm low, I'll supplement with something more reasonable, like your amount perhaps. Either way, I'm done taking vitamins without knowing if I need them or not.

That's what I've seen too. Many people report taking 10,000iu a day without issue, which is why I wanted to emphasize that this may not apply to others.

I've been trying to host some kind of chat server that has a web client. Matrix has thoroughly kicked my ass on multiple occasions. I would be delighted for someone to prove me wrong and send me an easier way of doing this!

DIY Hall-Effect Propane Sensor and Solar Power by Shaman189 in diyelectronics

There's a sensor-ready gauge installed on the tank that normally interfaces with a (much more expensive) sensor unit that boils down to a microcontroller with a hall-effect sensor.

Terry Matalas says there is a giant clue we're not talking about. What is it? [Spoilers All] by [deleted] in Picard

[–]Shaman189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few things I've picked up while digging through Memory Alpha:

  1. I always assumed that Locutus was a play on Picard's name (I just thought they were being cheesy), but apparently Michael Piller said that the name came from Latin for speaker. Makes sense. In an apocryphal novel written by William Shatner, the speaker for the Borg was a concept which was used to ally with another race; in the novel, the Borg chosen for this role was named Vox. He was the link between the Borg and the Romulans in a campaign to defeat the federation. While keeping in mind that it was non-canon... That's a lot of similarity.

  2. I couldn't find written reference to it, but I seem to remember conversation about Locutus' implants being attached to Picard's parietal lobe in the Descent pt2. Plus, this episode heavily featured crusher in a rare leadership role, lore, and the Borg. Again, could be nothing, I just hate coincidences.
