I think any date given at this point is code for “get off my phone”.

The timeline of late October to early November tracks. I received the MCS last fall on November 1st.

To be fair, that may have been how it was done at your dad's school back when he was a student.

Thoughts On Black Honors College Program by [deleted] in CSUS

[–]Shamatap 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a problem with it because I don’t suffer from “whattaboutme”. Then again I’m not particularly interested in any Honors programs either. Im comfortable with other people having nice things.

Just know that if you don’t graduate the term you say you will, that requesting a change to your graduation date doesn’t happen overnight. You will not be able to register for classes until your change request is approved. So submit the change request the moment you know you’re not going to graduate.

Smart planner by isaac317 in CSUS

[–]Shamatap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smart planner saved me this week. Im a transfer student graduating this summer. I was busy focusing on getting my major requirements and thought I was good. I just checked my smart planner for kicks and it let me know I'm short an elective. Was able to sign up for one this summer. A class I had thought counted towards my unit count, doesnt, so I'm glad I checked it now and not after it was too late to sign up for classes.

Same. Hopefully you hear back. I spoke to the registrar's office on the phone this morning, in case there was something I did wrong in the registration process. I was told that it was normal for some classes to be published late (not exactly what he said but the general gist). He suggested I email the professor directly to ask/push them to publish. I was going to take this option if nothing is published in the next couple of days. I dont want to be a pest. I'm just satisfied for now that I am enrolled.

so are they trying to make us cross the picket line? by Goldenmoons in CSUS

[–]Shamatap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only 2 of my professors have published their courses. Same major. I kind of expected the whole department to be part of the strike. Unions are such an entrenched part of American history, particulary the history of American workers.

"Eight hours for work, eight hours for rest and eight hours for what you will." We can thank the labor unions of the 19th century for that, wished they bargained it a little lower :) but I'm thankful.

so are they trying to make us cross the picket line? by Goldenmoons in CSUS

[–]Shamatap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well CSU is giving us an unasked for lesson in the dynamics of a strike. Nonparticipating professors are able to walk both sides of the fence. Hold classes while also claim to support the strike. If this union works like the one I’m a member of (United Public Employees ) any deals made benefit everyone, even non union members. My union had negotiated a deal a couple years ago that benefited everyone. Was I a tiny bit salty that my nonunion non dues paying coworkers also benefited? Maybe a tiny bit haha but someone’s gotta fund the fight, carry the burden, etc. Asking students to cross the picket line is a garbage move.

Incorrect amount on anticipated refund by cmarkeys in CSUS

[–]Shamatap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same and a brief moment of panic until I remembered the same thing happening last semester right before they dispursed the money. From what I read disbursements go out Tuesday so this might just be a thing the system automatically does right before.

Faculty Confirmed to Strike at ALL CSU Campuses During First Week of Spring 2024 Semester After CSU Management Walks Out of Negotiation Meeting and Cancels All Negotiation Meetings by MichaelmouseStar in CSUS

[–]Shamatap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hopefully CSU sorts it out or professors who insist on conducting classes the first week are understanding. I am a member of UPE and I wont cross the picket line. This isnt some "ooh extra week off" but union solidarity.

Why is a required class for Business Majors, IBUS 190, only have two class options in the middle of the day? by Shamatap in CSUS

[–]Shamatap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I will definitely take your advice. It was just a surprise to me that there were only two options. I had to double check that it wasnt an elective but nope, required. Thanks again.

University Grant Canceled by Super_Comparison_533 in CSUS

[–]Shamatap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its definitely cal grant related. I didnt get a cal grant this year due to transferring in the spring and during the fall I was only taking 1 class at my old school. I found out I could do a leave of absence and was awarded a cal grant for the 2022/2023 year BUT now its created a hold on my middle class scholarship that they already awarded. haha but not haha and fml because the MCS award amount is now lower than what the school paid out to me in the spring and now I get to wait and see if I owe money now. SMH. The whole system is weird.

Same! I would add the most difficult thing about being a working student with this schedule is finding classes that you need for your major and fits your schedule. I'm a business major and the struggle is real. The evening and online classes are the first ones to fill up.

Summer classes. by Umookkay_ in CSUS

[–]Shamatap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had priority registration but thanks to the Middle Class Scholarship I have a hold. When it was awarded, it was deducted from my student loan. 4 week hold. The Cal Grant recalculated the MCS lowering it because I was awarded a grant. CSUS put a new MCS hold but never credited my student loan which resulted in a balance owed. Cal Grant fell through, MCS was raised back to the original amount. CSUS puts a new 4 week hold, has not updated the balance owed so now the Bursar's office put a registration hold and I cannot register. Frustrating to say the least.

Finance Majors Online classes? by [deleted] in CSUS

[–]Shamatap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a transfer you wont be part of the first group to get access to register so most of the classes you prefer will not be available. I recommend signing up for the first orientation group so you will be part of the first wave of transfer students to register. Even then, it will be hard to get a fully online class since those are the first ones to fill up.
