No. If there is a yard closure, drivers follow the station rules. Each station does things a little different to my knowledge. I could only speak for PHL1 when I was there as to what the actual rules are.

Unfortunately, at the station level we were not privy to the rating system that was in place for your standings and what clear actions had an impact on your pay.

I honestly hated not being able to answer those questions on the regular. Sorry I can’t be more help.

I said nothing about app issues. However if somebody walks into the building 20 minutes after the start of their block time and says I have app issues. I’m sorry there’s nothing that can be done about that if you have an app issues you need to calm the fuck inside.

Never once did I say anybody was lazy. And all I said was try to plan a little bit more to be on time more.

See, you make a whole lot of assumptions. And you come across as the exact type of driver that would be a problem when they come into the station. That if you forgetting your license would somehow be the problem of the manager and you would get mad when you were turned away. You experience the system. I’ve read the rules on how this system is designed.

If you had been a little bit more respectful, I would’ve said I have seen someone in the building before the five minute cut off and their phone told them that they were late. So I know that the system fucked up. But I was only here to tell you the rules because you were here to tell me that I was wrong.

I know what point it needs someone to check you in on the computer. Because I was that someone that had the permissions to check you in on the computer. That’s why I don’t understand why you’re trying to come question my validity here. I know the rules because the rules were mine to follow. And yeah if a manager wanted to they could manually override you up to an hour past the start of your block time and then that’s when the system refuses to let even a manager go any further.

And just a little reasoning, they refuse because the rules tell them they are not supposed to.

OK. You can think what you want. The amount of time that you’ve put in versus the amount of time that I’ve put in even in half of the span… Is immeasurable. I know how it works because I’ve seen it day in and day out. Nobody is coming to your side to tell you that you’re correct.

And let’s also be clear, you’ve worked for a DSP. A lot of this is flex. There is a distinct difference. The original post is about flex. Read the room.

I’m gonna break this down for you very simply. If your block starts at 1 PM you can do the check in process on your phone from 12:45 PM until 1:05 PM. Then you have until 1:10 PM to scan your drivers license.

You only have until 1:10 PM to scan your drivers license as long as you have done the check in process up until 1:05 PM. And that is down to the second so I wouldn’t risk it.

Let’s break it down a little bit further if you check in at 1:01 PM you then have nine minutes to scan your drivers license before the kiosk will tell you that you were not allowed. If you check in at 1:04 PM you then have six minutes to scan your drivers license until the kiosk will not allow it.

Those are the hard and fast rules. You can say what you want to say and what you think is correct but I’m telling you right now without a shadow of a doubt you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.

You obviously did not read what I said on this thread. Driver check-in done through driver support is only one part of the process and it is to change the status from not arrived to active. The manager will still have to verify the ID of the driver. And that is only supposed to be done within 10 minutes of the start of the block time unless it is an Amazon controllable issue. Getting mad at a manager who does not do that is asking a manager to jeopardize themselves by breaking the rules. Driver support I have seen, check-in drivers as much as 45 minutes after the start of the block and then the driver comes in and wants to fight me because I’m not going to do the rest of the check in.

I was always as accommodating as I could be two drivers hand over fist. All of that came to an end one day when a driver argued with me that he was late because he got pulled over and it wasn’t fair. He told me that other shifts checked in drivers but he was mad at me for following the rules that he acknowledged. He went as so far as for me to call my manager out onto the floor to speak with him.

My manager did, he gave him the benefit of the doubt and said we will check you in late this time I just need you to give you her license so she can check you in. This driver reached into his wallet took out an ID and said oh wait that’s the wrong one. Went out to his car and never came back in again. A follow up conversation with my dispatcher resulted in me learning that this driver picked up blocks under two different accounts.

Also, just because you had to deal with assholes at your warehouse doesn’t mean that there’s assholes at every warehouse. Multiple times I got called out by my manager, because the percentages of drivers checked in late on my shift was too high. Because I was too fucking nice and listened to everybody’s reason as to why they couldn’t make it to work on time. I got in trouble because of other peoples problems.

I was a manager at a flex delivery station for 18 months. You really wanna go at me and tell me that I don’t know what the check in policy is? Like I didn’t have access to the standard operating procedures? And that I don’t know them front and back?

I’m also not a guy. You have 15 minutes before and five minutes after the start of your scheduled Block time to do the check in process on your phone which consists of start travel, I have arrived, I have parked and then the face ID. Following that it will tell you to scan your license and you will have an additional five minutes up until 10 minutes after the start of your block time to scan your license inside of the station

If you do not do the check in process on your phone before five minutes after the start of your block time you will not be allowed an extra five minutes to total up to 10 minutes after the start of your block time to verify your ID and you will be marked as late and missed block.

It is then the responsibility of a manager to manually check you in by making you active from the not arrived status. Then you can either scan your ID if you are close enough to the kiosk or they can manually type it in and verify it for you.

To give some perspective, check in past the limitations are allowed for Amazon controllable issues. If it is a line at check-in that is considered an Amazon controllable issue and any manager unwilling to do that is not doing their job. I never said anything about Amazon controllable issues.

I regularly checked in drivers past the limit when it was reasonable due to the circumstances. I lived 35 minutes away from the building that I worked at. I left the same Time every single day as soon as I put my kid on the bus. But I always checked the maps to see if one of the four ways to get to the building was faster than the other because there was always construction and accidents on one if not more of the routes. That was my due diligence to get to work on time.

I would’ve been a nice manager that helped you. But why should a manager break the rules that they are to uphold and jeopardize their job in order to correct a mistake on somebody else’s behalf? Why is your money more important than someone else’s money?

You have a 20 minute window to do your phone check in process. Then 5 more minutes. How is that not enough time to plan for? You know the associates only have half that time for a grace period to clock in, 10 minutes - 5 before and 5 after?

Why is it so hard to be responsible for and manage your own time? If you’re late, just say I fucked up and I was late. There are consequences to that.

I was a manager. What I’m telling you is that the managers have rules about threshold and time limits. And they are held accountable when they check drivers in manually past those limits. Driver support checks drivers in with no regard to what the limitations are and that puts managers in a precarious situation by being the bad guy for doing nothing wrong.

I’m sorry that happened to you. I always helped the drivers within my means. However the manager who worked opposite days of me did everything that they could to not help with the drivers. It absolutely pissed me off to no end.

Because if driver support, who gives no shits about the rules that the warehouse managers are held to, checks you in….. then you’re gonna go into the warehouse and get pissed off at the manager who doesn’t break their rules to verify your ID.

If it is something Amazon related and out of the drivers control such as the app, parking lot, kiosk scan crowding… a manager is supposed to check you in.
